I for sure know what you mean. It has an aesthetic that doesn't really appear anymore. Everything now is really crisp and colorful and flashy, but there's something really nostalgic and heartwarming that newer anime can't really replicate. I tried to explain this to a friend of mine who primarily watches newer shows, and she didn't really understand what I meant. Perhaps she thought I was looking at the past through rose-tinted glasses. But I can't say I've ever gotten that pleasant feeling from watching any anime past the early '90's.
