oh, very nice. I just get pidgey farms so we level up faster even though I'm in a suburban area with less pokestops

Lake Kindred? That was the main gold making game that caused the mass inflation... but Lanzer came back to work this year as well, so he's tackling the inflation problem by limiting gold income from farming Lake Kindred (for the players that kill the monsters with higher gold drops). Either way, I suggest you play it for some quick money - you'll get a couple billion which will make you pretty rich with the current gold income capped at about 20B for the regular players.
