Atanacio the Vampire

Overview:

Atanacio is a vampire, not because he cares one particular way or another about CiarĂ¡n, or because he is interested in the mechanics of the flesh. He is a vampire because other vampires pay well and the life is easy, without contrivance. If somebody needs a body, or simply a part of a body, he procures it. Sometimes he gets lucky, and whatever he requires can be procured from a morgue or grave. If he is not, then so be it, there are plenty of bodies and body parts waiting to be slain and delivered to the bowels of Gaya. Morgues are easy, but killing is fun. Usually, Atan likes to play it safe, still, sometimes he doesn't have that luxury.

Appearance:

Atan is short, lean, and pale. If you weren't looking for him he'd be hard to notice, which is just the way he likes it. As a work of art, which few men could be said to confuse him with, the vampire is painted in muted monochrome. With heavy black hair, pitifully pallid skin, and a taste in black leather, it could rightfully be said that Atanacio is completely without color. Of course, you would be missing his eyes, which isn't hard to do. If you were to really get a good look at him, you would notice, perhaps, the wild glow, somewhere between rust and moss.

His greasy black hair is haphazardly spiked back, more from grime and habit than any concentrated use of hair product. Thick, aggressive sideburns adorn the sides of his face, framing rough stubble. His expression is chronically surly, to match his callous and reactionary demeanor.

Like all other lupines, Atan has rough hair covering most of his body, sharp canines, a prominent nose and slightly pointed ears. Unlike others of his kind, he lacks a tail. This is a direct result of his choice to cheat a prominent crime boss out of his cut. Atanacio got closer than he ever wanted to a hacksaw and a welding torch.

Also unique to him are six retractable blades, which can be extended about a foot and a half from between each knuckle. These are usually left hidden, and only brought out the moment of use, then quickly retracted once again. These were "installed" by the vampire clans as recognition for his good work. Atan simply enjoyed the prospect of never being unarmed.

Personality

Scavenger.

If there were one word to sum up the life of Atanacio, it would be scavenger. A few others, such as filthy, wretched, hungry, selfish and cruel would do well to round out the description. If one weren't so disgusted by him, he or she might be inclined to pity this travesty of a Lupine.

He is impulsive, driven by flighty desires and whims of the flesh. Commitment, dedication, and pride are all foreign to him. Fear, anxiety, lust, hate, these emotions are his. They are his allies and his greatest council. Atan is a feral creature, like a wild dog or better yet a starving coyote. There is not a hint of domesticity in his veins. He is skittish to the point that he only feels comfortable approaching a situation from behind, a personality trait that goes well in his line of work.

Not that he would consider it work, or a profession. Those concepts require pride and perseverance. Atan simply is, and if he comes across an opportunity to make quick cash, and maybe snatch an artifact along the way, he jumps at it.

Belongings:

- "The Reaver of Souls": This massive revolver looks quite like any other custom firearm. Don't be fooled. This is a rare artifact, which utilizes antimatter charges as ammunition. These charges are indescribably rare, and wondrously potent. A single shot from "Reaver" can easily blast a hole through a tank. When Atan "found" it, the weapon had a single charge in the cylinder. He's never been able to procure another. Purchasing ammunition legally is far out of question. One could obtain a small mansion for half the cost of a single antimatter charge. Still, he likes to keep the weapon on hand, just in case.
