"Well. A lot of people I know live in Gotham, but I could never bring myself to live there myself. However, no matter where I live trouble will always find me, as it always does." She nodded to herself while watching him closely. Wondering if he'd actually try something to get past the barrier. "It's really quite nice out here, and I do rarely get anyone out here, but when i do it's either very nice, or just unpleasant."

Flannery rolled her eyes at him trying to keep the guise up, even if it was to add in some humor. "She ought to give you a good lashing for leaving your home and wandering out in the middle of the night then." She rested her arms against the ailing of her porch as she glanced off to the side.

"Hey, you're the one who decided to touch it, I didn't have anything to do with that." She said with a small uncaring shrug, watching him carefully as he was recovering. The light magic seemed to be taking its toll, which was good, that meant the barrier would be impervious to the likes of him. "I can see through you like a window, you're not just some boy. Didn't take what happened to prove figure it out either."

The moment his hand came into contact of the barrier, the raw light energy swelling within it suddenly erupted forth, sending a powerful shock through his body and sending him sprawling backwards and slamming into a tree. The look of on Flannery's face showed great surprise to that, but also a bit of satisfaction that the barrier was repelling as it was suppose to, and not just holding things back. It certainly had answered his question, but it was something beyond his ability to counteract, it almost seemed to be divine in nature, but certainly not science.

She could sense him drawing closer and closer to her home; she didn't grow anxious or nervous as this unknown being approached. Rather angrier and angrier with the fact that she couldn't be left on her own without such things coming to her; was there ever going to be a break? Finally, he came into sight, not nearly as imposing or as big as she had imagined, but Flannery could see right through him, and the fact that he wasn't just some boy wandering into her woods. Her single cat like eye narrowed at him, but she didn't speak. Instead she waited to see if he'd approach or try to get past the barrier.

Flannery had been sitting in her living room, just enjoying a nice cup of tea in front of the fire place, keeping warm and cozy as the shadows cast from the flames danced all along the dark room. She was sadly alone tonight, which wasn't to abnormal, but she had come across someone who she may just be having around more often in the near future, if fortune had it. Just as she was thinking about going to bed, she sensed a presence entering her forest, one she wasn't quite certain on what to make of, but it made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. Getting up, she walked into the center of her home where the stairs were, and opened up a small hidden door on the side, where a white orb was resting in a strange contraption. Pressing the orb into it further, it started to glow, and soon a barrier formed around her house, where nothing could get past it, so long as it was anything evil or fell into the category of dark.
Grabbing one of her newest tools that she had yet to experiment with, she latched it onto the back of her skirt so her cape would hide it, before she stepped out onto the porch to wait for whatever this being was, cup of tea still in hand, and the barrier just in front of her.
