About
(Client Site Post By Melissa Dejanude )What more can be said about the bare beach scenario at San Onofre ? The news was covered a thousand times in sites and news articles from all over the world. The internet is full of stories about the San Onofre nudity ban of 2008 (which didn't really take enforced effect until the summer of 2010 - the worst summer of my life, which I Will get back to). Well, I do have more to say.
For people who aren't familiar with San Onofre, or the situation with the nude beach there, I've supplied some links at the end of this article that I highly suggest checking out. click is dealt an injustice there, one that needs much more media attention than it's received, and it is been my passion since the nudity prohibition to bring this situation to the public's curiosity.
Here's a really brief recap: A small handful of non-elected park rangers and bureaucrats have essentially taken away the right of "The People" to skinny dip at the plage in California. Every unclothed beach in California, that lives on State Park land, is impacted. The folks who did this are apparently unaccountable to the general public, and it was done with zero public input signal or outcry. They even used a technicality to attain their goal in appeals court, and they used your tax money to do it.
Separate in the nudity-ban, is the implication of what can be reached, behind "The People's" backs, by the number of power that is vested in such a small group of non-elected state workers. Nudity was banned. Alcohol has been banned. What'll be next? What ban will the next private dislike or personal-moral-code visit upon us? The possibilities are staggering.

It's been several months since I've written anything about San Onofre. Truthfully, I Have felt pretty jaded, even bitter, about the nudity prohibition, and the California State Parks system's treatment of naturists. So, when I was encouraged to write another post about San Onofre, I was hesitant to accept - I wanted to, but I did not. I dreaded the vibe. Bringing the thoughts, and pain of it back to the vanguard.. I just was not sure if I was prepared to go there. As you can see, I decided that confronting the duty of sharing this life-altering injustice, and continuing to spread the word, trumped my own negative emotions.
I'm not the only man who feels hurt about San Onofre, there are many. I have been a "regular" at San Onofre's unclothed beach - which we make reference to as Trail 6, although it's quite a distance in the valid Trail 6 trail - for many years.
Why do we need it back so awful? Why not simply give up, and go to Blacks? Well, as I said, ALL Cal State Park Beaches are affected by the nudity ban. It's currently not under fire, but it's easy to see that Blacks is living on borrowed time. Furthermore, why should all the Los Angeles and Orange County folks need to drive all the way to San Diego, when we have a perfectly good naked beach at San Onofre?
Ok, perhaps we should just cease our bitching and wear garments to the plage. The people that are responsible for the nudity prohibition believe that is a reasonable alternative. They don't comprehend why we like to skinny dip in the first place. They feel that being bare at a sand, even one as remote as

Trail 6, should be a crime, and they have now made it so. For us unclothed beach lovers, nevertheless, wearing clothing is most definitely not a wise decision. For over thirty years we have all been enjoying the unclothed beach at San Onofre in perfect harmony with the law, the rangers, the public, the military and nature.
The San Onofre nude beach regulars have worked hard over the years to protect their cherished territory: Keeping the beach free of rubbish, self-policing the strand, creating the FOSOB group and volunteering their time to hand out flyers and educating newbies on naked beach etiquette (no sex, no cameras, etc.), working with the rangers to make sure novices were mindful of the beach rules (no tents or glass, etc), reporting the occasional crime, pursuing away perverts and hidden camera voyeurs, etc., etc..
Why is the unclothed beach at San Onofre so "Cherished", you might ask?
First, you must realize there are no other nude beaches in all of Southern California's Ventura, Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Factor in the residents of the inland counties of Riverside and San Bernardino, you might have a beach-using population base of nearly eighteen million folks. That number includes a hell of a lot of naturists and unclothed beach assistants, and the naked beach goers from that massive population base have been relying on San Onofre's unclothed beach as their only unclothed beach, within a realistic journey distance for normal weekend bare beach visits.
Second, Location location location! The distant, hike-in, dead-end, out-of-the-limelight place of San Onofre's Trail 6 (T6) naked beach make it THE perfect unclothed beach location.
Other things which make San Onofre's nude beach so unique and special are: great surf, warm summer water, innocent cliff & oil rig-free ocean scene, warm friendly people, camping, and a close proximity to the extremely cool town of San Clemente - where a lot of San Onofre visitors like to hang out and party at night after a sand day.
I have barely touched on the folks, not to mention the vibe. You get to be a pretty tight-knit group of fun loving naked beach buddies when you've been calling T6 your "home far from home" for as long as many of the regulars have. Some of us have literally grown up there. I have been going there on and off since the early eighties; many of my T6 friends out-date me. Everyone is having an enjoyable time every time you see them. The nudies at T6 have become a huge beach family, surfing together, playing volleyball, frisbee, sand golf, sunning, camping, BBQ's, and simply hanging out with buddies.
San Onofre was not simply a bare beach, it was a lifestyle. The best lifestyle most of us regulars could ever conceive of. Our lives away from the plage were centered around our life at the playa. Sure most of us also see nude resorts and hotsprings, but it is the strand we all crave. And you'd be hard pressed to find a better group of folks.
I 've numerous amazing memories of T6, from world class sundown, to stealing credit for assembling the sand course over the stone from my pal.
