They say you’re gone, eternal sleep
Then why do I still hear your call
Upon the wind, your sarcastic drawl
They say you’ve gone to a better place
You’re heaven bound, “By his grace.”
Then why the hell do I still see
You’re dark eyes watching me
You can’t be gone, I won’t believe
You’re still here, I won’t grieve
I can’t believe that you are gone
When I last I saw, you had a smile on
But they found your body Monday morn’
A smirk on your lips, though your body was torn
I screamed aloud when I got the call
And as I stand here, I can’t deny it all.
You’re body’s empty, no question there
I refuse to believe though that you’re elsewhere
In life you were a living sanctuary
Someone who was hurt, in your arms you’d carry
You devoted your life to watching over others
And you gave your life to protect your brother
No death would keep you from your passion
You’re still watching in your own fashion
You’re in the wind that soothingly blows
You’re in the fresh and powdery snow
Your in the twinkling stars that watch with love
Your in the gentle rain that cries from above
The rushing of waves, the glistening sunlight
The golden moon, the silence of night
You scream your wrath in the thunder storm
The morning fog holds your form
You’re still here, you’ll never leave
Though at your grave I stand and grieve
You left one night without a thought
The freedom you searched for was hard bought
And though life without you is going to be hard
I know that your spirits an angel to guard
I grieve for your death
For your dying last breath
But I know you’re still here
Watching those you held dear
So I say goodbye to my best friend
Who gave is life for his need to defend
I will not stand at your grave and forever cry
