Höðr's ShadowsUser Image
Description: By calling upon the god Höðr, he shares his rule of Darkness and Winter with the subservient worshipper. He inflicts his control to share his blindness with all in the casted territory, most often by rolling in a thick, cold fog and mist that creates a barrier to hide in. In cases where Nora makes a sacrifice, Höðr may bless her with an eclipse.
Obtained: Höðr had been told of Nora's phenomenal beauty, although he could not see it due to his loss of sight. Upon allowing Höðr to see by touching Nora's silky flaxen hair, he bestowed her with his blindfold, to tie her hair with.
Effect: Höðr's Shadows creates a smokescreen around Nora that spans out to a diameter of fifteen feet, with Nora at the exact center when it is created. Nora is unable to see through it; and as far as she knows, neither are her opponents. Nora must be wearing her hair ribbon to use this ability.

Njörðr's DirectionUser Image
Description: The god of sea and seafaring doesn't often have to assist Nora upon nautical bases, but calls upon him for insight of direction when she is lost. By the assistance of the stars and the way of the tides and moon, he is able to guide her in the correct direction when she asks.
Obtained: Upon paying her respects at Njörðr's temple and impressed by her charting of the stars to navigate her way to him, he gifted her with a compass, so that she may always be guided precisely.
Effect: Njörðr's Direction gives Nora a temporary sixth sense only in terms of determining direction of a landmark. She cannot use it to detect anything living or in motion.
..... • Embodying Item: Compass

Quote:
Freyja's DesireUser Image
Description: The goddess of love, fertility, and sexual desire smiles upon Nora when she is in need of help. Freyja grants sexual allure to Nora in the form of a scent that consumes her, which distracts or even attracts men to her. When in need of persuasive skills, this often helps Nora achieve her goal.
Obtained: Nora's spatha sword was priorly given to a Viking, which was carried off into battle. The Doctor had collected it in his mess of antiques, which was stolen by Nora when she fled so that she may defend herself. By instructing Nora subconsciously, Freyja led her to the safety of her own shrine so that she could recover to live up to her name.
Effect: Freyja's Desire creates a scent that distracts anyone attracted to the female sex, which includes: men, women who are interested in other females, and even animals. Due to the fact that demanding that persons she uses it against would fall in love with her is considered godmoding, the scent merely distracts her foe and commonly provokes lusty hallucinations to her opponent. This effect disappears at the start of the third turn since she cast it, and Nora must have her sword, Brynhildr, on her person to be able to use the ability.

Freyr's ProsperityUser Image
Description: The god of plenty and peace protects Nora when she calls for his aid by embodying his powers within her shield, so that it may not break when it is struck. Her shield, being made of metal rather than wood, also reflects sunlight. Freyr's holy domain also entails the sun and the harvest, and makes the sun shine bright for Nora to allow her to blind enemies with the reflection.
Obtained: Freyr had previously given Nora's shield his blessing, but when it was in the hands of a Viking that had carried it off to battle. Nora stole it from the Doctor in her escape, and upon visiting Freyr's shrine, he accepted her as it's new owner and was to be protected.
Effect: Freyr's Prosperity allows Nora to call sunlight to be reflected off her shield to be used as a blinder. However, due to the direct rays of the sunlight being aimed at her to then be refracted to her opponent, Nora is not able to look at her opponent while blinding them, which will significantly adhere her aim if she decides to attack while using the technique. Nora must be carrying her shield to use this ability.

Magni's StrengthUser Image
Description: Due to the awesome and raw strength of the god Magni, no human can bear more than a few moment's grace of his abilities. Humans are only capable of using 30% of their muscle's total strength capacity on their own. With Magni's temporary help, he allows Nora to tap into more of her muscle's strength for only a few moments time. But experiencing Magni's gift repeatedly or when weak has devastating side effects.
Obtained: To cover herself in battle, Nora had gauntlets made from steel by a blacksmith she'd met in her travels. Impressed by the strength of her will and what she had previously overcome, Magni blessed the gauntlets to provide his help.
Effect: Magni's Strength gives her momentary strength to help her in battle. The ability has a downside, which will cause physical harm to herself if she uses it for more than a few moments (about a total of five seconds), if she uses it repeatedly (more than twice), or if she uses it when she is weak. She must have her gauntlets on to use this ability.

Móði's Madness
Description: The bloodthirsty god of war only visits Nora in her sleep, but she doesn't understand why. When she calls to him, he does not answer her prayer. Only in the unconsciousness after battle or in sleep does she see him again, for some reason wanting to lead her through a dream... Whatever Móði can do, Nora cannot utilize it as of yet.
Obtained: n/a
Effect: n/a

Mímir's FocusUser Image
Description: Since Nora is not always able to determine how her personality will affect her, Mímir, god of Knowledge and Wisdom, watches over her. When a situation becomes desperate and may lead to a fatal outcome, Mímir bestows his influence upon her to give her mental focus so she may survive. This does not remove her from any situation she is in, but grants her the mental focus to allow the true Nora to be in control of her own actions. During battle, Mímir's help can allow her to go without switching personalities for a few minutes, but shock (having built up over time) when she allows Mímir to release his divine protection grows in intensity to a point that the jolt may kill her if she has him keep it going for too long.
Obtained: When Nora had come to Mímir's temple, she'd pleaded for him to help her. Her intelligence was hindered when the antennae changed her personality, and she was disgraced by constantly losing what she'd spent her whole life learning. But Mímir saw the true knowledge that laid within Nora, and bestowed her with a gift: two earrings, to complement her beauty. Blue as sapphires that mirrored the water of the Well of Wisdom, so that he may always be there to allow her to regain her intelligence when she absolutely needed it.
Effect: Mimir's Focus permits her to avoid changing personalities (due to the wire implant in Nora's left temple) for up to ten posts. However, the longer she has Mimir keep her from randomly switching personalities, the more devastating effect the electric shock of finally changing personalities will have on her.

  • One to four posts of the Focus will end in a visible shock to her system, causing her to jump and wince, perhaps a bit more potent than a full-body static shock.

  • Five to seven posts of the Focus will cause a more powerful shock than the first, which will cause her body's muscles to contract. Due to the power of this shock, Nora will likely feel numb for a few moments directly after, as well as feel a fair amount of pain.

  • Eight to nine posts of the Focus will send an agonizing shock to Nora's body, which will most often cause her to fall to her knees to recover, if not on the ground completely. The pain is immense, and will wear on Nora for the rest of the duration of the fight, until she can rest.

  • Ten posts of the Focus will deal a shock so great to Nora, that she will pass out immediately after.

After the shock has been dealt, Nora is in control of her body for only a few moments (not an entire post) before she changes personalities. Nora must be wearing her earrings to be able to use this ability.

Odin's OrdealUser Image
Description: Odin, father of the Æsir gods, is associated with many holy abilities of many different genres and entitlements. He sacrificed his eye to be able to drink from Mímir's Well of Wisdom, and therefore has only a single eye. Nora, in an extreme situation, may offer her own eye for a wish from Odin. The result of the missing eye is permanent, but there are restrictions as to what Odin can grant her.
Obtained: Odin was reluctant to give her an item when she visited his temple and tried to impress him by all she had accomplished on her journey. He felt that if the proper price be paid, then he would help her.
Effect: Odin's Ordeal can grant Nora a wish, with certain limitations. (Pretty much, anything that would break Gaian ToS or tournament rules is out of the question.) However, in exchange for the wish, Nora must part with one of her eyes, and the result of that loss is permanent. Nora will only consider using this ability in EXTREME circumstances.

______________________V. Personal:

..... • Likes:

Good food, horseback riding, romantics.

.....• Dislikes:

Being called by her full name, illness, and the Doctor.

..... • Behavioral Tendencies:

Due to the Doctor's experiments, Nora has no consistent behavioral tendencies. Her personality constantly changes due to the small wire antennae that is connected to her left temple. It routinely sparks often on it's own, but her personality can also be changed manually when touched by herself or another.

______________________VI. History:

Nora was believed to have descended from a bloodline of many ancient Vikings and many subjects of the Æsir god's blessings. She was always a happy child, and very outgoing and confident, who lived with her mother and father in a cottage in the countryside of Oslo, Norway. Her father and mother were cobblers, who owned the village shoe shoe shop. Even as a child, Nora's smiling face made customers come from all around town to have the small girl fit them for shoes. But as she aged from a tiny toddler into a lovely young woman, even more people (men, specifically) visited her family's shoe shop.

While Nora's flaxen hair was traditional to the region, it was often said that Freyja blessed her with beauty, and was heavily sought after in her region. Her gorgeous golden tresses were a village-wide treasure, and men of a wide variety of ages even proposed to her-- but Nora refused them all, wishing to stay with her parents in the shoemaking trade awhile longer.

But as she neared the age of sixteen, dark times set upon Nora's village. Many fell sick, including her parents. With no cure to their disease, she could only make them comfortable in their last moments. The rest of the villagers were dropping like flies, the death tolls climbing higher each day, the cold hand of Hel claiming more of their loved ones to spend their afterlives walking the cold depths of the underworld for the rest of eternity.

The villagers had given up hope for a cure. The doctors had all taken ill and died, and all foreigners were too afraid they might contract the disease if they'd approached to treat one...

Until one day in the village square, a strange man had called for all that were still healthy to hear him. A doctor, he said he was, with a proposition. Without fail, all who were able came to hear him, Nora included.

A cure, he said he had for their loved one's disease! Keep them from dying and rush them back to health, he promised! But as a doctor wanting to perfect pharmaceutical cures for other diseases, he needed something very important... subjects.

No, animals would not do! Animals could not react to sickness the way humans could! Human bodies with high resilience, he was in need of those to create cures for other diseases around the world, he said! How many would be willing to sacrifice themselves for their loved ones?

Out of those who stepped forward, Nora was one. She couldn't bear to see her parents die. Her fragile heart could not bear it. Although, much to her surprise, most of the other healthy citizens had volunteered as well.

He held some strange metal device in his hands, then, withdrawn from his pocket. It made some odd noises as he walked the ranks of the volunteers, varying from very fast to slow beeping. The doctor had refused some who had stepped forward, leaving eight, including Nora, in his choosing.

Like he'd promised, he'd provided a serum to administer to all who were sick. It didn't take long for the villagers to regain health, and the doctor was packing up to leave, along with what he'd been promised.

Nora's mother and father wept that day, when she was taken away. A girl of sixteen, who'd sacrificed herself to serve the doctor in exchange for their health.

But that was only the beginning...

It turned out that the doctor had more complex plans for them. Dr. Victor Bloodrune, a famous and prodigal master of medicine. For some, he had the only cure for which his patients sought. At extreme times, when they couldn't afford it, it made the Doctor a target for desperate families who threatened and beat him in order to obtain what they wanted. Some other doctors had even tried to steal his research, and reproduce it as their own for their own gain.

His bodyguards and assassins, the Doctor's subjects were to be. The eight taken from their homes had all moved into his large European estate hidden in the forests, clearly in the middle of nowhere. His latest experiments would transform his guinea pigs permanently into the most efficient and strongest fighters he could breed. They were to take care of all who were in the Doctor's way...

Why? The Doctor's hands were tools to save lives, and he would not use them to take one.

Without much choice, the eight citizens of the Norwegian village submit themselves to his experimental treatment. An injection inserted into each of them.

Not much time had passed before all of them were aware that they were rapidly changing. They could feel their muscles grow stronger, their feet feel lighter and have the ability to run quicker, the resilience of body and spirit that could keep them from harm.

But there was one last effect that they hadn't expected. In the backs of their minds, they all felt a pressing urge... What was that? Oh, obedience. Obey the Doctor's orders.

This development had stripped them all of their will... all except for one.

It seemed Nora's power of will had kept her safe from this side-effect. But the Doctor noticed it right away, and knew something had to be done...

When Nora least expected it, she was taken in and put to sleep by way of a drug, and laid upon the Doctor's operating table. If her personality and sense of will were too strong to submit to the injection, then he'd have to rework it from the source-- the brain.

The brain is so complex however, he could not choose what personality she could have. But what if he could make it so that it would change on command? After the night had passed, he'd finished his monster-- his Frankenstein.

When Nora awoke and looked in the mirror, she'd noticed that new hardware had been administered to her left temple: a wire antennae. She tried to touch it, and it had shocked her, causing her whole body to jolt, leaving a tingling sensation in her hand. Nora felt odd every time it was touched, but braved the shocking and stinging as she desperately tried to pull it free from her head.

Alas, she could not. The Doctor had secured it by a plate between her brain and skull. She was stuck like this.

The wire often jolted her when it was touched, or just routinely on it's own. Her personality and even her identity changed when it sparked. One minute she thought she was a kitchen maid, the next a kung-fu master trying to do suiken, and followed by thinking she were a cowgirl riding the cook as her horse. Nora had absolutely no control over who she was or what she was doing. Only half the time could she be herself... and the rest was all foreign to her.

In a rage and unhappy with what the Doctor had done to her, she'd stomped to his quarters in the estate to force him to take out the antennae. But when she'd broken the door down, he wasn't there. His desk was strewn with papers, and Nora's curiosity led her to investigate what he'd left there. Animals squeaked from the back of the room in the cages they were left in, all watching her.

Articles from the newspapers, research on the viral epidemic that had struck her town. There was a specific article there, that it originated in South America, transfered by rat bites. And beneath that, the scrap packaging to the estate's address... sent from Peru. That was odd, the packaging had holes in it. ...Airholes?

Nora jumped back, staring at the rats kept in cages at the back of the room. If he'd recieved a package from South America with airholes in it, did that mean that he'd had the infected rats sent to him? Then why wasn't the doctor infected?

Suddenly, it all made sense to her.

The Doctor wasn't curing the disease... he was spreading it.

Retracting from the room slowly, who should she bump into, but the Doctor. He immediately realized that she'd discovered his secret. Too bad... now she'll have to die.

In a spark, Nora could feel something... as if she could hear a voice that commanded her to fight. And she listened.

She lunged at the doctor, tackling him to the ground before he could withdraw a knife from his pocket. With a swift knee to the groin, she left him speechless and in pain for enough moments to escape.

Running to the foyer and front door of the estate, she was inches away from freedom. But much to her dismay, the other seven from her village who accompanied her to the Doctor's abode stood in her way. Nora had desperately tried to get through to them, but her words were lost to them. Her once-fellow villagers... they were no more. They were mindless slaves.

Mounted on the wall were antiques of various types. The one that drew her eye were two Viking relics: that of a sword and shield. Drawing both from their mount on the wall, Nora battled her way through her former neighbors.

She'd only narrowly managed to escape, leaving a trail of blood behind her as she ran. Nora ran until she could no longer, but still persisted to run more. She had to see her family, who she had worried for.

Nora's worries were indeed realized when she arrived at the village. Everyone... everyone was dead. Her parents corpses laid strewn in their own house, the cottage reeking of death and rot, their muscles and skin having been eaten off by festering maggots for what could've been weeks, possibly even months.

She mourned for them; regretted the day she left home for them. The Doctor only had to cure them once before infecting them again. But why? They hadn't deserved to die!

Nora wept for nearly a day before forcing herself to drag her lonely body elsewhere. Surely the Doctor would be looking for her, not eager for her to spread the secrets of the healing-and-killing Dr. Victor Bloodrune.

But she knew her once fellow villagers, the other seven experiments, had healed. She'd had to face them time and time again-- running until she was found, fighting them off, and then fleeing again. A never-ending chase... of the one who would never be the same again...

Nora was forced to find work as she went, figuring that Bounty Hunters and Fighters-for-Hire were the best way to survive and get enough money to eat while still being on the move. She drags herself to each and every hiding place in hope that the Doctor's other experiments won't find her.

Amidst her wandering around the Nordic-faith regions of Europe, Nora had often come across temples to worship the deities and gods of Asgard. On one of her wandering ventures, she'd come upon the temple of Freyja. Wanting to pass by it and resume her journey, she'd realized that her legs did not obey her own will. Was this just one of her personalities relieving her of her command? No, it was something stronger.

A voice in her head, it told Nora to come closer, to enter the temple. This voice was familiar... the one and the same that had told her to run from the Doctor!

That voice, it had saved her.

Upon entering, Nora became aware of what she had taken from the foyer of the Doctor's estate. The blade of the sister, the shield of the brother. Freyja spoke to Nora again, granting her these two relics as gifts. She would carry the power of the Æsir on to victory.

"Leonora"-- Woman of Honor, in Latin. Freyja predicted that Nora would live up to her name's meaning.

During her travels, Nora visited more of the various Æsir temples and provided offerings. This woman of honor was truly favored by the gods and goddesses, as her beauty became even more stunning as she reached adulthood. Each that she worshipped blessed her with small gifts, allowing her to call upon them when she was in need.

And with the help of the Æsir gods, Nora triumphed against all who faced her. Bounties as she moved along kept her in good financial status, and the abilities bestowed to Nora allowed to to keep herself out of the Doctor's and other experiment's clutches.

The woman of honor would one day claim her life... her personality... her identity back. Nora was sure of it.
