Ultimately, it all comes down to Media Literacy and it seems like you've got that so you're on the money with how she was raised and how she misplaced that onto Leon. I mean he was also emotionally stunted, so he acted like a teenager as well since that's when he started his "work" so it all makes sense.

Gary Oldman, though?! Holy s**t, incredible in both films. (5th Element and Leon) Not a fan of him being one of those In Character All The Time Guys but the man can ACT cool

It's truly a banger honestly, it's still weird and kinda taboo/problematic still, but it was an interesting film and incredibly acted. Plus Eric Serra's soundtrack? I just like his music. Esp for the 5th Element.
