The name "Belarus" derives from the term "White Ruthenia"
(White Rus).
There are several claims to where the origin of the name
"White Rus" came from.
Belarus was formally named "Belorussia"
in the days of the Russian Empire,
and the Russian tsar was usually styled "Tsar of All the Russias",
as "Russia" or the "Russian Empire" was formed by all the Russias
the Great (Russia), Little (Ukraine), and White (Belarus).
