Just.
Like Lilithia's '*Soar' this is an ongoing journal-story.
The foggy smoke was too much to take in. As all the background turned ghostly white. Every second blurred with the next, while I floated through the air. Still the was an annoyance attached to my wrist-keeping my somewhat grounded. Crash. The jolting pain came so suddenly upon contact of the icey ground, muffled voices continued on, somehow forgetting the half mangled body that was my own. Some how I forgot as well, allowing it all to go dark in my mind.

--

Frostbitten. The cold air was the first to greet me, back into realitry. Music softly played in the background, so different then that of the party. This music was peaceful-soothing even, unlike the hard rock of lastnight.

...Where is that comming from?

At last I lifted my hands to my eyes, rubbing them as if to put everything into focus. The memories of the night before remained fuzzy, though my vision had returned to me. Slowly looking around the room, I came to my conclusion. I was still asleep. For the room was a world of choas-only that in which I'd seen in past dreams, never reality though.

Glass lined the windowsill like rain drops to the sidewalk on a warm summer's day-shining in the patches of sunlight the window provided. The rest though was covered in dust, creating a smokelike appearance to the outside world.

My eyes slowly made their way around the room, paper was everywhere, with what seemed to be handwritten music, some though were crumpled lying in a corner, where a waste-bin was sure to be hidden. Then at last my eyes rested upon myself, and the blue button down shirt, I'd surely not been wearing the night before.

What the hell did you do Eve...?

I could not have anwsered that question, not only had I been completely aloof and unable to think, but I had been interupted as the music stoped.

"You looked cold." Finally, I allowed my eyes to find the sorce of the music. Siting atop the end of the bed was a boy-about 17 years of age by the looks of it, and very cold as well, as he clung to his gutuar with nothing but jeans on. He seemed to notice my staring.

"Everything else was in the wash, so I gave you my shirt." He said half apologenicly, half laughing.

"Glad to see you're away though."

"Um-what am...how..." The words seemed to just stagger as they exited my mouth.

How did I get here...?

Where is here?

What happened?

So many questions needed to be anwsered. So I started out with the most important.

"Who are you?" I blurted out. He didn't seem to mind the forward tone I was using, instead he seemed more ineterested in playing his gutuar.

"I'm from the band that was playing lastnight. You know, Essence Enlightened Lies; I'm the lead singer. Anyways, we were on our break, and Matt pointed out some guy pulling this girl-who is actully you- outside. So I came over and asked what the hell he was doing. He'd said that you got drunk, and so he was taking you home." He stoped both talking, and playing, simply staring at my what seemed like sympatheicly.

"So I went back and told Matt, who was now with his girlfriend Jen. When I was finally done she asked what we were talking about. Mattie pointed out the the boy. All of a sudden I turn to look at her face, only to see her expression fulled with a mixture of anger, shock, and rage. Then she goes cussing at this guy who she's calling Brain. Saying how he was really just trying to take you away and whatnot." He looked down at his gutaur picking a few strings and continuing on.

"So yeah...I kind of just knocked him out and the band and all of us left."

It all seemed too much to register. But I look it all in like a sponge, I had to.

But why was Brian there?

I knew he couldn't anwser that, so I went on to the next question.

"So...where am I? And Jen...oh god, she must be worried sick." I said, trying to sound less blut then before. It didn't do me much good though, dispite my efforts. Though now, I was talking more to myself then to him. He didn't seem to notice.

"Oh, well...you're at the band's house. And Jen's downstairs with Mattie-he's the drumer by the way." He said now looking down at his gutuar, consintrating on the song he was writing.

"By the way, I'm James. And you'd be..."

It took a moment for me to realize he was waiting for a responce.

"Oh, um, I'm Eve. I-I have to go now though." I said with uncertainty. He could hear it in my voice.

"What, so soon? Don't I get to get to know my danzel in distress?" James seemed to be playing his knight-in-shining-armor part for all it was worth.

"Wh-I would have been quite fine without your help." I said flatly.

"Right. I'm sure you'd do just wonderfully, being, you know, passed out and all." His voice seemed so serous, though I knew there was sarcasuim hidden somewhere. I hated this guy, he was so...

Right.

"I'd be fine..." My voice seemed so fragile. He didn't dare risk breaking it.

Rubbing up against me, I now realized he was right next to me.

"Those bruises...what're they from?" He said softly, as if easing me into the question.

"They're from the ice. I slipped. Not that big of a deal." I said flatly. Shooting a glare at him. It wasn't something he should be concurned with.

"We haven't had ice in weeks Eve, luv."

"So..? They're from a few weeks ago."

"There are too many of them. Some could be from then, but alot of them look new as well. Like the patch of them on you're right leg. Must I remind you, that I took you out of your wet sweater and skirt, and gave you my clothes. You have tons of them...atleast twenty, and I didn't even see what could've been below your cami."

His face was now inches from my own. I consintrated on keeping the water works down though.

"What are they from?" James asked again, even softer this time. I wasn't going to tell him though. It isn't his business anyways... Or was it?

"I have to go..." I said getting up and heading for the door. His hand caught my own though, and pulled me back towards him.

He read though my expressions, I already knew he could tell I was lying. But before anouther word was spoken, the door knob twisted. There in the threshold of reality and this chaos world, stood Jen.
