Bait Info When you fish, you get to choose your bait type. Mostly everyone knows this already(at least everyone who has tried fishing at least once), but what many don't know for sure is HOW this bait affects their fishing experience. Well, guess what, I'm just about to tell you!
Okay, one thing you need to get out of your head first. Bait does not work the same all the time, it just doesn't. Is it out of your head yet? Great, read on then. Well, you see, F-Bait one time isn't the same time as F-Bait another time. The bait effectivity changes as you play, based on the amount of times you fish. What actually happens when you choose bait is that the gaia servers get the bait type and then looks at how many times you've played since the number last got reset(which happens 12 hours(that is, real hours, not gaia hours x.x) after you fished last). Based on that, it sends a "signal" to your game, which tells it how good your bait is, and also it defines if your game is to have a rare fish in it, or not. When the game recieves this "signal", when it loads the game, it checks it up against a list of five "signals" defined in the game. These "signals" point to one of three probability levels, which I name A-, D-, and F-level, and also says if it should have a rare or not. The five signals point to A-level with rare, A-level without rare, D-level with rare, D-level without rare, and F-level without rare.
When you first start fishing, after the count of games you've played has reset, ALL the bait operate on A-level. Yes, that's right, ALL the baits are just as good, even the cheap F-Bait! Unfortunately, this isn't true all the time, which is why there are different kinds of bait. The different baits get worse and worse as you play, and in the end they drop down to the level of their name. F-Bait drop to F-level, D-Bait to D-level, and A-Bait always stay at A-level. This happens after five trips, on your sixth trip, all the bait is at the level of their name. The F-Bait also drops down to D-level after the second trip, game three to five operate on D-level with F-Bait.
This is ONLY based on the amount of games you've played since last reset, and it's not independant between lakes or bait types. If you play three games with D-Bait in Gambino, using F-Bait in Durem won't give you A-Level just because you changed lake or bait. No, it will function at D-level, as if you had played with F-Bait all the way, and stayed at Durem. Also note, there is only ONE "signal" for F-Bait, and that's without a rare. So after your fifth trip, F-Bait can no longer catch a rare, only D- and A-Bait.
What does this mean? Well, two major things. A-Bait is a BIG waste in the beginning of your day, stick with F-Bait for your first five trips, or change to D after the second if you HAVE to have A-level. If you want, stick with F-Bait all the way, if you're ready to filter and have crappy chances for large fish. Secondly, it means that taking a twelve hour break after at least six games is actually pretty profitable, as cheaper bait will net you much higher chances after your break. =)
