You know what I've realized? I've realized what being a teenager really is. Not all that bullshit you see on TV about raging hormones and drugs and peer pressure-the people who say that have either forgotten being an adolescent or decided to minimized it to make it simpler, easier to comprehend.
So you want to know what it is? Being a teenager is staying up until five am, then sleeping until three. It's that irridescent light reflected in your face from staring at a computer screen for five hours. It's that feeling when someone tells you that they love you, and want you. It's that amazing, wonderful feeling of laying on a friend's hammock in the middle of summer and staring up at a big oak tree with leaves in your hair. It's the smell of alcohol on your friend's breath, that smell that lurches your stomach and makes you think you need to save them. It's that sound of your cell phone ringing in the middle of the night, and the feeling that accompanies it, the feeling that someone's thought of you when the world's asleep. It's the feeling you get listening to an acoustic love song and knowing just how they feel, to the point of wanting to tear up and go fall in love. It's the feeling of seeing someone and just wanting to be with them, to have them inside you, or you inside them-depending on gender. It's the sound of the ice cream truck, and wanting to chase it, even though you know you're too old. It's your best friend's voice, your parent's looks, and your deepest thoughts. And you know what? It's the most wonderful thing you'll ever experience. So treasure it.
