Okay, I'll admit it. Sometimes, I can get a little overconfident. But, I've had some major breakthroughs with the strength and control of my magic lately, so I thought my training strategies would be safe to try out. I was wrong.
As planned, I asked Sheena to meet me in the desert near Triet to help me train for my upcoming rematch with Mighty. Sheena's been training almost nonstop lately to live up to the expectations as Mizuho's chief, so fighting against her is a bit brutal. Since nothing I tried was working, and I was reaching my limit, I tried something risky out of desperation.
What I TRIED to do, was put more power into a Mystic Arte I've been developing. What I got instead was a bizarre accident followed by a near death experience. I felt way too much mana leaving my body, but I couldn't stop the arte at this point. Sheena and Celsius, who were running toward me at the time, stopped completely. But it wasn't just them. The wind stopped. The clouds stopped moving. Even the birds were completely still in mid flight. Before I could process anything further, everything around me went dark, and I woke up in my bed with a worried Raine standing over me.
I asked her what happened, and she said that Sheena saw me collapse very suddenly and that I've been unconscious for two days. I explained what happened before I blacked out, and Raine's immediate response was to smack me for being reckless. I don't really blame her, but it still hurt.
We both suspected that the arte I used by accident was Time Stop, and she says, based on the type of magic that I specialize in, I shouldn't be able to use a move like that at my current skill level. I gotta say, I do agree with her. I've only seen Abyssian and Mithos use that move, and it took a full team to defeat them.
Raine told me to rest in bed and avoid using that Mystic Arte again until she did some thorough research around the area where I was training. She thinks there could be something buried there that altered my mana. It's been an hour since then, and it's almost sundown now. The full moon is going to rise soon, so I have to go meet Mithos and tell him what happened while I can. I hope I get back before Raine gets home...
