Once again, I found myself involved in something by accident, and this time I actually feel a little bad about it.
Raine asked me to go out and buy some stuff for her today, and Lloyd was in town, so he went with me. When we passed the Tethe'alla Bridge, we noticed Zelos hiding behind a nearby bolder. When we confronted him he shushed us quickly and pointed toward the direction of Meltokio. It was there that we saw Yuan. Zelos explained that Yuan had an odd smile on his face, so he wanted to follow him and see what was going on. Normally, I'd call Zelos an idiot for doing this, but I don't think we've ever seen Yuan smile before. I found myself wanting to know why and Lloyd was curious as well. We both crouched beside Zelos and continued to follow Yuan at a safe distance.
Once he reached Meltokio, Yuan went to a store nearby and happily purchased a bouquet of red flowers. The three of us, who were still tailing him, were shocked and began to speculate who he was going to give the flowers to. It was hard to believe that he was able to move on after everything that had happened with Martel since he seemed so devoted to her. As we followed him out of the city, Yuan seemed to have some excitement in his steps, which shocked us even more. Whoever this person is must be really special. As the sun began to set I noticed that the area we were in was close to the Tree of Mana. It was then that I figured out who the flowers were for. I tried to tell the two idiots beside me, but they were too busy bickering about who Yuan's new date was.
The full moon shone brightly on the tree as Yuan approached it, and a faint image of Martel appeared smiling brightly at him. Both Lloyd and Zelos blushed in realization and the three of us turned to leave quietly, but Lloyd stepped on a twig revealing our location. Yuan seemed upset and was about to chase us down, but Martel chuckled and encouraged him to stay and enjoy the short amount of time they had before she had to leave; if she stayed for too long she would deplete the tree of mana and possibly kill it. Luckily, that gave us time to escape.
On the way back I realized that we'd forgotten to buy the stuff that Raine needed. We hurried to the store, but it was closed for the night along with all the other stores that had the parts she needed to repair the relic she'd excavated yesterday. She's not going to be happy when we get back...
