About the Internet Spelling and Grammar, my own thoughts and contemplations.
Okay, so, there's a person, (Lets make all genders male, because it's shorter to spell 'he' than 'she', I'm not just being sexist) and he's a nice enough person, friendly, nice. Anyways, but they spell EVERYTHING wrong. So bad, that you have to read it over 5 times to understand what in the word they're saying! ex. "Y... you can't do tat" Are they saying "Why can't you do that?" or "Y-You can't do that!" The lack of proper punctuation is a big problem here. Also, the Y, should not be at all alone like that. If it means "Why" then it should be spelled out, however, if it is meant to be a studder, then it should have a "-" just to clarify and the three dots removed. As for "Tat", HONESTLY! Does it take so much effort to put an "H" in there?!... Okay, I'm lazy like that too with the "He" V.S. "She" Thing, but hey! I notified you all beforehand!
Second point; lack of body. So, you're writing to this person, and you say something long and nice and you even try to keep the conversation going with a question at the end like 'Don't you agree?' and then he writes back and says "Sure".... stare .... How the.... heck.... is a girl susposed to follow that up?! Things like 'sure' and 'yup' or 'ok.' or just a single emotion ' 3nodding ' really start to .... stare .... get me agravated..... Yeah, SAY SOMETHING! I will wait, people don't seem to get it sometimes. But perhaps something happened and they just want to reply fast to not make me wait anymore, but to wait all this time, then see the new message and be filled with 'Oh, yay! What'd he write?!' and then open it up and see 'cool', that's just wrong and dissappointing. 'I wait this long time and THIS is all he could think of?!' stuff like that. Saying 'Bye' is more than okay though, it's just letting you know, don't wait. Waiting sucks, and yet I do it far more than is healthy for me I think.
Okay, now, what's next?... Ah, the imfamous intonation rant! Closely related to litteracy, but not quite. Yes, no doubt it has been heard before, yet here it is again, in my good old journal. There is little to no intonation on the internet. You must be careful with what you say and how you say it, explain yourself frequently and follow up lines that can be easily misconstrued (For those of us that don't know what that word is, you know who you are, it means, misunderstood). Lets use the all too famous example.
"I love you."
Note, NEVER, EVER, Say this to anyone outside of your family, on the internet without making it very, VERY, clear what you mean by it! Love is way downplayed by the American culture. As I've said before, the Greeks had 4 words for different kinds of love, we have one, and they can often get confused. The types of love, it is in a previous entry. You could be simply joking around with the word, but just because someone at one persons end is laughing it off, the other may becoming slowly torn to pieces with this. Or, perhaps both parties do have a sort of 'feeling' for each other but are honestly too afraid of what the other honestly thinks, when the word love is thrown around without definately saying 'I love you, honestly, and one day, if it works out, would like to get to know you better and spend the rest of our lives together, I've never felt like this around anyone before' and he just says 'I love you biggrin ' it may sow seeds of doubt. 'Does he really mean that?' 'Is he just teasing me again' 'Does that word really mean anything to him?' 'How many people has he said this to, I wonder' and such and such. But this is a whole topic in itself, and I don't want to ramble about that too much. Just be careful...
Um... Lemme see. Ah, that's it for now, I'll post someother thoughts later, my shower power wore off now and I'm getting tired and stupid again. All this thinking and writing hurts my head. Oh, as for life, my dad made me practice parallel parking for an hour today... I'm gonna take the test again on Wednesday... We'll see how that goes...
