Bankai Application
Link to Profile: This is as it says a link to the profile of the character you are using
How long have you been in the guild? Less than a week
How active are you in the guild? Considering the fact that my character hasn't been reviewed yet...I suppose not at all in terms of RP
Why do you want to Bankai? I'm a powerwhore. It's cool. And I want to apply for Captaincy. So. Yea.
Why do you think you will a Bankai? I'm not exactly sure what is the question, but here goes! I'm an experienced role-player that knows how to hold back and limit myself so as to not turn an RP too one-sided. My character's Bankai is mainly a support type as well so I won't be charging through Hueco Mundo to one-man-army all conflicts.
Your Sample: Yoikusha, or Kurogane Ryuusei as he had been informed now that the man's identity no longer needed to be kept a secret, could not have chosen a better stage for this confrontation. They were in the woods on the outskirts of Rukongai, even farther than the eightieth district where the very same man Kiba had been ordered to hunt had offered him a purpose in life.
"Are you sure you want to do this, boy?" Though the man's hair was graying, he had lost none of his strength and agility. The corpses lying below the branch he was perched on were a testament of the man's formidable power. "I have taught you everything you know and I know everything about you. Do not go thinking that Bankai would change anything."
No, he did not want to do this. No, Bankai would not change much considering the fact that Kurogane-san had mastered his long ago. Taking on the appearance and mannerism of a zealous veteran had served the man well. Who would have guessed that the man that had been in charge of recruiting and training the members of the Hagureta Unit was the one secretly eliminating Onmitsukido officers and leaking intelligence to the enemies. Though sentiments were frowned upon in the Covert Ops, Kiba found himself reluctant to fight the man who had changed his life forever despite all the crimes he had committed against the very cause Kurogane had so sternly drilled into them.
"Not going to answer, boy? Why don't you step out already then. Or do you really intend to play this game of hide and seek?"
In response, Kiba motioned for his remaining men, a mix of Onmitsukido officers and Hagureta members, to attack. His officers immediately shunpoed in, surrounding the man from all sides and launching simultaneous attacks. It felt like they were back at the HQ's training grounds with the way the man effortlessly deflected and parried their attacks so efficiently. Kiba shadowed his men, slowing his movements to mimic those of his subordinates. He knew that his former teacher was trying to draw him out. They both knew that only he stood a chance to go head to head against the traitor, but part of Kiba couldn't help but wish that he would not be the one to deal the finishing blow. Five minutes passed and another one of his man fell and their target let out a disgusted grunt as he pushed the lifeless body at another attacker.
"Boy, what's the matter? Do you not dare to accomplish your objective? So sentimental. How many more of your men will you sacrifice selfishly? I thought I had taught you better. Call off theses buffoons I am too embarrassed to call my students."
Again, the old man was right. Petty tricks simply wouldn't work on their mentor and Kiba couldn't cling to the excuse that he would be doing exactly what his opponent wanted him to do if he took up the challenge. Sometimes, being a pawn was the only solution. It went against everything the Onmitsukido stood for, but Kiba had no choice. He motioned to his men to stand down and commence preparations. They nodded, spread out to clear the parameters, leaving only he and their target. Kiba flash-stepped into sight, on another branch a good 20 yards away from the man who let out a satisfied hum at the sight of his best pupil.
"Will you honor me with one last battle, Kurogane-san?" Kiba asked. As usual, Kiba's tone was calm and even, betraying no emotion or intent which seemed to amuse his opponent. The older man shook his head and withdrew his zanpakuto. Kiba took it upon himself to do the same, drawing the short wakizashi he had at his waist.
"Since it has come to that, as the last Yoikusha, the Rearer, I suppose it is the least I could do."
In one fluid and synchronized movements, both drew their zanpakuto. Kiba immediately pulled back the black cloth covering his face to allow the leathery material of his shikai to take its place while his opponent's zanpakuto took the shape of a long piece of black fabric and a pair of gauntlets. Their was a silent agreement that Bankai would not be used. It was simply too devastating and they will most likely end up destroying part of the closest district in the wake of their fight. It would attract unwanted attention; this was a struggle that only concerned the Onmitsukido though if Kiba was to be honest, he had been dying to have a one on one against his mentor. He did not want to have anyone spoil it for him.
Kiba was the first to charge, closing the distance between them with a shunpo that landed him in a crouched position, left foot stepping onto his mentor's right foot to pin him to that location, and lunged himself upwards to attempt to elbow the man's jaw. His opponent retaliated by pulling the fabric taut against Kiba's elbow to block his blow. With a quick wrist movement, Kurogane had wrapped the long strip of cloth around Kiba's arm, successfully trapping his limb and reversing the situation. Though the man's right foot was still trapped, it did not stop him from bringing up his left knee to direct a blow at Kiba's guts.
The younger of the two managed to block the blow with a free hand, but it gave Kurogane enough time to unleash a Tsuzuri Raiden spell. Yellow lightning crackled to life across the fabric keeping Kiba trapped. It burned and stunned him enough to allow his opponent to free its foot and wrap another coil of fabric around his throat. Kiba instinctively lashed out, twisting his neck as best as he could to sink his enhanced teeth into the fabric and aiming a blow at the man's carotid artery. He tore off a chunk of the man's zanpakuto much to its owner's dismay and forced his target to release him, but not before landing a blow to his sides and sending him flying into an adjacent tree trunk. Because the older man's Shikai needed two limbs to use, Kiba had the advantage; he had obtained a new weapon by releasing his Shikai: his mouth. The only downside was that Saibanmoe took away his jaw's mobility, preventing him from using Kido spells.
Kiba chewed on the thin fabric between his teeth while he pulled himself back onto his feet. His Shikai had already broken down part of the fabric and absorbed the Reishi it was made of. The young operative could already feel his energy returning thanks to the small piece he had absorbed, a testament of his opponent's power.
His ex-mentor soon became tired of the wait because Kiba suddenly found himself facing three spikes of yellow light aimed at him. He dodged the Bakudo spell by skidding to the side and let one end of his opponent's zanpakuto wrap itself around his right arm before pulling with all his strength. His opponent expected the movement and flipped forward, letting the fabric float loosely in the air while both fighters exchanged blows. Kiba managed to land two blows to his former mentor's side and was satisfied to hear the sound of bones shattering under his assault. However, the older man had managed to dislocate his left shoulder and fracture his left forearm. Though not exactly a draw considering the fact that Kiba had lost the use of a limb, it was still enough when fighting someone of such caliber.
He was about to charge in for another rush when he suddenly saw a red Shakkaho explode in the skies above the forest they had been fighting in. It was a warning signal and an emergency one as no one in the Onmitsukido would use such a flashy display of Kido without good reason. It effectively interrupted their joust and the older man let out an exaggerated sigh before leaping back in a flurry of fabric.
"Well, it would appear that playtime's over. I'm sorry for deceiving you, boy, but I thought I had taught you to trust no one." With a all-too-familiar patronizing sigh, the man broke the silent agreement they had. "Bankai."
Kiba reacted immediately by summoning his own Bankai, words spoken painfully through the extra rows of teeth he had gained, and flash-stepping forward to tackle the traitor. They tumbled down together and exchanged blows before coming to their senses and switching to grappling and locking techniques. It took quite some effort and time, but Kiba finally managed to get his former mentor in a headlock though he had to sacrifice a few ribs. It was enough however and he willed his Bankai to detach itself from his face and wrap the long chain that move brought forth around them. It would tie them together, keep the traitor trapped against him and limit their movements while he held on for dear life, ignoring the numerous slashes and cuts inflicted upon him by the multitude strips of cloth that constituted his opponent's Bankai. Fortunately, his chain also served as a flimsy layer of protection, but the clothes were swift and thin, slipping in between coils to stab at him. They forced Kiba to order his Bankai, a giant Komainu mask now, to fly towards the rendez-vous point with them in tow while taking the bushiest road so as to use the tree branches they were flung into to hinder the slashing sashes. The position made his dislocated shoulder throb with sharp pain, but he ignored it, using the position and a stray tree trunk they slammed into during their struggles to forcefully snap it back into place.
They crashed through more tree trunks and branches then Kiba thought was possible until his Bankai finally led them near a creak where he saw his men fighting Shinigamis from the rebel faction, reinforcement meant to pick-up Kurogane. When his men saw him, they immediately retreated from their individual conflict. It was time, they knew what to do. Each of them immediately fired a Byakurai in their direction even as their opponents slashed and hacked at them. They would fall victims to their enemies' blades, but their spells forced the traitor to divert the cloth tendrils to block incoming spells which gave Kiba the opening he had been looking for.
With a simple mental command, he ordered his Bankai to begin spinning while flying closer to ultimately bite down onto them. Only at the last minute did Kiba free himself from the long chain that had loosened due to the giant mask's rotations and leap away. "Bakudō #61,Rikujōkōrō," he chanted now that he was without the cumbersome mask. Six beams of light slammed into Kurogane, paralyzing him and Kiba watched as his Bankai sank its fangs inside his former mentor's flesh. He ignored the pained screech and ordered the Komainu mask to start rip away the old man's limbs so as to prevent any retaliation, but the old fox must have expected that because the man immediately turned his Bankai on himself, strips of fabric slashing his own throat open. The dead did not speak; they would not get an information out of a corpse which meant that the mission was not a complete success unless Kiba captured other rebels.
"Capture them alive!" he ordered and turned to strike at the nearest enemy, but to his surprise, one of his men ran his sword through Kiba's target, killing it on the spot. Kiba blinked, once, twice, too stunned to stop the killer from slashing his own throat open before realization hit. Suicide. Silence surviving rebels before committing suicide should their powerhouse Kurogane fall. It would appear that not all his men were his and on board with fighting the traitor. Even in death, his mentor's will would still live on even for a short moment, just long enough to tie up loose ends.
How fitting to have Kiba's mission jeopardized by his own brothers in arm. They had been trained to be masters of deceit after all.
