Now every captain needs to have a crew. But within that crew there is, and will only be, one first mate. This person was the only one that truly knew the secrets behind secrets, the one that was second past to the captain, someone that had the power to take over....but for some reason he didn't. These sections well be dedicated to the "behind the scenes" so to say of how Captain E. Vasquez got to where he was simply by the help of this one simple person.( the crew information could not be found, which led many people to believe that it was what seemed impossible...a 2 man crew) Let me begin with the little background that was able to be found about him
Toby( which no one but Captain E. Vasquez knew his full name) was a spirited fellow. History has it that Toby was the first person he went to in search of information. It was also said that Toby could influence an entire population simply by his character. That may had been one of the reasons Captain E. Vasquez chose him as First-mate but it wasn't the only reason. Because you see....before Toby was First mate, he was just another fellow Captain E. Vasquez didn't like. Now, let me tell you the story
Captain E. Vasquez first laid eyes on his First-mate when they were just in Middle school.( which back then was from 6th-8th grade) However, even though Toby is known in history to be his First-mate, his right-hand man....they didn't exactly see eye to eye. So during those years while Captain E. Vasquez was scavenger potential crew mates he didn't see Toby nothing more than the average skater boy.( "skater boy" is not to be confused with Maryland state song "skater boy" wink . Everyone saw Toby as another skater boy.....but Toby had very good eyes, in a way, he could see what others could not. Of course it wasn't until they both enter high school did these landlubbers become close comrades.
FirstMate Toby was a rather unique fellow in the eyes of a certain crew-mate. What was recorded of him is mostly of his involvement with Captain E.Vasquez and his unworldly knowledge. There isn't much information that we can find after all these centuries. No, this isn't to say that he never existed, we have found birth records so we have proof he was real thus meaning Captain E. Vasquez was real. The only true and most accurate documents are ones that were written by a crew-mate.
The capital of Texas during the time of Captain E. Vasquez and First-mate Toby was once called Austin (which then fell to its demise by the power of mutant birds led by Toby) and then recreated into what it is now: El Vasquez. A little lost fact that you might find interesting, are you ready? Ever wonder how the birds in America, Mexico, and Asia even as far as japan all seem to go take the same path towards El Vasquez? 8 out of 10 birds are direct decedents of the mutant birds that Toby had tamed and controlled. The knowledge of the path has been passed down into each offspring…..now here’s the kicker. The reason this is a “lost piece of information” is that supposedly, due to a chemical that was introduced to the mutants birds (though they completed their mission) could no longer have offspring. It had messed up their system to reproduce and if they attempted the chemical would reactive and, literally cause them to explode……so how would YOU explain the 8 out of 10 direct decedents?
In the last section you learned the ending and beginning of both the city and the birds. However, Austin...or I should really start calling it El Vasquez, has more history of both Captain E Vasquez and First-mate Toby. Along the path from their homeland of both Captain E.Vasquez and First-mate Toby are places and things they have done to mark their names not only in history but in world records books that haven not been broken yet. Now they may be legendary seamen, but they also learned to fly. The previous record they broke was going around the world in 80 days, which they did in only 30 days( this information has found from documents of a crew-mate) Ever wonder why there is so much hay bale around the world even in places you would least expect? All of First-mate Toby doing, and not even Captain E. Vasquez could figure out how he had done it. The law that was passed in the year 2080 legalizing to carry almost any type of blade was influenced by, you guessed it, Captain E. Vasquez. Why he didn't make the law sooner, no one shall know but him. And for many other records they had done as well as their own reputation, The Jen Book of World Record gave them the great honor of these titles:

Most powerful First-mate- First-mate Toby
876 years they have kept this title, it will never die.
While Captain E. Vasquez took care of the inside of the capital, First-mate Toby took delight in releasing the mutant birds on the outside. During the 1st hour in which the mutant birds did their job, First-mate Toby had: taken all the women and children, rounded up men to fight alongside the Captain, sat down and had some lunch, and trained all 50 new recruits in 20 minutes which would've taken 2 months. How he was able to do this all in so little time, we may never know. With all he had done, First-mate Toby led the new men inside to meet their captain.....who single handily defeated every single person that was inside. So why did First-mate Toby do the work in 1 hour?? The obvious reason would be, because he had time to kill. Doing things for no apparent reason is what First-mate Toby did best.....which can be very frightening when he DID have a reason.
The last treasure that Captain E. Vasquez and First-mate Toby discovered would've let them both be here right now as I speak of this tale. The golden dream, the magic elixir, the ultimate greed...the fountain of youth. It is said that a drink from this fountain will not make you age for 1000 years until you must go back for another drink. Even now, 1000 years from Captain E. Vasquez and First-mate Toby's time, no one has ever documented the existent of the fountain. However....the Captain had ordered a crew-mate.....and only one, to take a drink from the fountain. Neither The Captain nor First-mate took a drink. The reason I would give would be that being King and First-mate for a 1000 years wasn't to their liking, but being remember and famed for that long was their true goal.
Teacher: And that everyone, is the History of Captain E. Vasquez and First-mate Toby. Their legends and fame will no doubt live on for another 1000 years to come.

Student: I never heard from the news or read books about the Fountain of youth.
Teacher: That's because they never told a soul and destroyed all the evidence, but left just 1 item to live through the years to be the evidence that they were real.
Student: How do you know all of this if everything was destroyed?
Teacher: ........ Because I was the crew mate that drank from the fountain a thousand years ago.
