Character Name: Rhishla De'Shmar Character Age: 23 Character Sex: Female Character Orientation: Bisexual Character Race: Batarian Character Birthplace: Somewhere in the Traverse on a ship. Written Description of Appearance: Like all female batarians Rhishla has a light greenish-grey tinge to her skin. Her skin is much smoother than the appearance of males though she does share their baldness. At five foot 6 she is of average female height and her build is also average, perhaps with a bit of extra around the middle. Her four eyes are all a very deep shade of green, almost indistinguishable from black. A simple, yet complex looking myriad of black tattoos swirl around the top of her head and swoop down beneath her lowest set of eyes. Those tattoos extend down the back of her neck, across her shoulders and down her back and arms then around her waist onto her stomach. She wears a standard engineer's uniform and if the ship is in true danger she does have a set of light armor that is in pristine condition from never having been used. She also has very large feet for her size and her hands are long-fingered and nimble from years of practice tinkering with mechanics.
Position Aboard the Independence Low level technical staff. She's usually put to tasks such as cleaning the engines and dusting critical systems. Occasionally she is told to make small repairs. --- Backstory: The Batarian Hegemony rarely allows its average citizens to leave Batarian space. As a consequence most of those seen outside of it are criminals of one sort or another. Rishla's parents were no different. Running as grunt members of a small piracy operation with the Blue Suns they met and had an affair aboard the ship. It wasn't until nearly too late that her mother even knew she was with child. Eventually, in the med-bay of a Blue Sun cruiser she was born. It would have been common sense for them to take her back to Khar'shan but her mother wasn't exactly one for common sense. Instead she spent the first five years of her life aboard varying Blue Suns ships. Usually she was alone, or left with the ship's technicians while her parents went off on their raids. It was here, under the awkward and often unwilling tutelidge of the mechanics that she learned to love the small things about ships. The way they ran, the lights inside of a control panel when it was being worked on, the shine of a clean life support module...these things made her happy.
Eventually her parents didn't come back from a raid but the loss wasn't particularly difficult for her. She mourned, but the possibility of their deaths had been drilled into her skull from a very young age either way. For a while she tagged along after her favourite tech on the ship, a Salarian nicknamed Ren. Eventually however Ren realized that he had no idea where her parents were. At the time they were in the Serpent Nebula anyway so he convinced the ship's captain to simply drop her off in the citidel.
Rishla found herself alone on the docks, a frightening place for a girl of six but she was also excited, there were so many ships here! Eventually in her wanderings she managed to find someone who directed her to the headquarters for C-Cec. After a small incident involving fixing the desk clock for one of their secretaries she was enrolled into the citidel wards elementary school. From there she only rose, getting average grades in everything except technology courses. In those she excelled, eventually gaining the notice of the alliance as they were building new Normandy - Class frigates. Perhaps Admiral Hackett liked Shepard's idea of a multi-cultural crew or perhaps he had no hand in it at all but she was placed onto the technical crew for the Independence as a low-class maintenance crew member. --- Character Class: Engineer Character Powers: Combat Drone, Overload, Sabotage (That's it. I didn't use all 5) Character Weapons & Modifications: Upon her entry into the roster she was issued a secondhand M-5 Phalanx. She carries no other weapons nor does she know how to use any other weapons. The gun has no modifications since she can't afford them. Other Skills: Basic computer hacking, Advanced technological knowledge, basic ship repairs, armour repairs, weapon repairs, and droid repairs. Great at cleaning almost anything.
