The Key?
He finds a key laying upon the asphalt. The key cold and dark. He picks it up, the key changing from it's darkened state into a shining silver. His heart begins to beat rapidly, a warm sensation takes him over as he smiles a real smile.
The girl hiding in her room crying, clutches the darkened heart that slowly fades into a silver. Her body giving out on her, as she slowly fades into a deep sleep, tears staining her ivory skin.
He continues on each day, just as normal, keeping the key in his pocket.
She sits in a chair by the window at her new school. A blank look upon her face as she stares out the window.
He glances around the room, his heart beating rapidly as his eyes stop at her.
