Today I'm going to pretend that the few strangers who read this thing, or just happen to come across the page, care how I came to know and enjoy the Legend of Zelda games.
> ( ∆ ) < / / ∆ ∆ / / n || n Backslashes, y u no work on Gaia?! I'm pretty sure my first Zelda game was A Link to the Past. I played it a little on an emulator on the computer with my dad. Neither of us ever got past the first boss, but I know I liked to name the file "poop" and laughed whenever people talked to Link and called him that. /immature humor
Then I got the Game Boy Advance and a port of the original NES Legend of Zelda (that I probably played before) one Christmas. With it being one of those too darn difficult 8-bit games and me not being so great at gaming, I never got too far. And judging by my file (that I'm using to actually get somewhere in the game now o/) being called "poop" again, I don't think I quite saw the magic of the series yet.
After that, I played Wind Waker. I didn't think it was anything great back then, and mostly just got frustrated with it, especially since I didn't really "get" what the formula for the Zelda games was. I guess it's where I finally found out that Link's name isn't Zelda. ._.;
And then one awesomesauce day when I was a little older and less fail at video games, I found a Nintendo64 at a tag sale. I also saw Ocarina of Time, thought the box art and stuff made it sound cool, and got it.
OoT is what got me to really like LoZ, taught me how interesting its lore is, and maybe even got me interested in music. It was beautiful and emotional and a darn good game. The storyline drove me to get through the tough dungeons. The Redeads scared me and Saria made me smile. And then there's the music. I love those simple but memorable ocarina songs and some of the background music. I didn't care much for music before playing OoT, but I've hummed its songs a lot and have quite a few of them on my iPod. ^_^;
Since then, I've replayed OoT and Wind Waker, am working on beating the original LoZ game, played Majora's Mask and some of Adventure of Link, and want to try A Link to the Past again sometime. And actually I want to play the whole series, y'know, 'cause Link and fantasy worlds like Hyrule and creative 5-second songs and adventure are cool. It just took me a while to appreciate a series that's a little more serious and deep than Super Mario Bros. :3
