((More writing upon waking. This screen is killing my eyes however.))
Flying without wings.
The thundered rumble of hooves beating the earth only encouraged the equine. The wind caressed her heavy form like a well known friend. Her nostrils flared filling with the varied scents of the plains that gave her life as her breaths came heavy. She halted her running for only a second to leap through the air and for a moment she was flying as an ear piercing whinny cried out across the treeless horizon.
Landing gracefully she slowed as behind her she heard the varied replies of her herd. The Friesian was beautiful and proud, standing out amongst the various equines. She had been the one to free them from two-legger oppression. Now she lead them across free green plains, predator-less and without the ropes of their previous domestic life. Admiring the beauty the mare slowed to a stop, her friends and family mimicking the act as her mate took his place beside her.
The strawberry roan horse was nothing beside the tall beauty but he held his traits as well as she hers. Affectionately he nibbled her mane as if Spring had turned the once noble and strong stallion to a silly yearling that she might harshly call a colt. She nickered to chide him but only in jest as she too felt the silliness of the season. Soon mares would be bearing new life in their wombs and the next generation, the first born generation of her herd would fly with her.
((Not long enough...blah))
