Cadmus is a Maia of death, being a maia he isn't particularly powerful in comparison to those who dwell in the realm from which he came. Then again, in comparison to those in the mortal realm he's a perfectly formidable opponent. His purpose lies in the hour glass he carries while his powers lie within his true demon form. These two work together in a way, however. The hour glass' black sand can tell how much of one's life has been lived and how much longer they have left, a normal person could probably only make a very vague approximation on the sands depending on how full it was at the top but Cadmus can read them very accurately. The hour glass' real power, though, is to extend someone's life. To do so, something must be given in exchange. It's hard to tell exactly what is equivalent to what, in things offered and time to live. These offers aren't just anything, not possessions or money, they're things like hair, limbs, organs, maybe one of your five senses, your emotions perhaps? Anyone of these will give you a longer life span, but depending on what it is it could range from a few extra seconds or another year. The problem with this however, is that Cadmus' power is to take things from others and use them on himself. For example; powers, skills, or even body parts. So, in order to hide his demon form, he takes parts of what is offered to the hour glass for himself like an extra fee. His missing parts are his eyes, right hand, and part of his torso. His missing piece of torso isn't particularly noticeable under his coat, but to make up for his lack of sight his right hand was replaced by what is left of his demon form. On it, there are two eyes which allow him to see. Cadmus was banished from his realm for reasons he likes to keep to himself, though, one could make good guesses that it may have had something to do with his avarice. He was stripped of at least half his powers which rendered him weak enough to be considered a Maia. As a Vala he was a bout as close to immortal as you can get, but the heart stitched to his chest was a sign of his vulnerability now. Frankly, he didn't really believe that. The heart his shielded with something almost like a force field which applied a powerful resisting forced against any point of impact towards it. Anywhere else he is injured is healed by the sands of the hour glass, being the life of the last person to use it. As a Vala he had two spirit-like Maiar which sort of belonged to him and continued to remain with him even after his demotion to a Maia like theirselves, one residing in his scarf and the other in his hat. As they have pledged complete loyalty to him, their death will come only at the same time as his. In pledging loyalty to a Vala, a Maia can often extend their life but Cadmus' have taken a change in staying with him. Cadmus himself has far too much pride to offer himself to a Vala. The hour glass cannot tell Cadmus his own time of death, he could only find that out if he were to find another Vala or Maia with the same ability as himself, which was almost impossible. Another could not use his hour glass, as if someone were to take hold of the hour glass themselves, without Cadmus having contact with it as well, it would start to become damaged and after a certain amount of time it would eventually crack and when the sand spills Cadmus dies and the hour glass is useless. This would work vise versa, if Cadmus were to die that hour glass would smash. Normally, having to dwell with beings as weak as those in the mortal realm would have put him off and finally forced him to resort to submitting to a Vala, which was probably what the Valar who had banished him had wanted. However, there were things which kept him there quite happily. Cadmus loves ice cream, with a good enough ice cream bride he'd probably read your sands without a second thought but I'd be careful to have the sands read first, he's not *that* generous. Perhaps, though, you could even have the hour glass flipped. If you had more life on the bottom (or less if you wanted to die) then you could could pay a price to Cadmus directly to have it flipped. Without this offer, however, it could be flipped all you like but the sand would continue to drop in the same direction. As well as ice cream, the one most amazing thing Cadmus believes the mortal realm has to offer is the blessing of pornography and hentai. Where women and men so easily undress themselves and then let you look at them and then you can go back and do it again. You couldn't ask for much more than that. Cadmus is also rather prone to nosebleeds, he gets them from very 'attractive' people (voluptuous women, attractive men without shirts etc...) and sexual things, his mind is also often found in the gutter which occasionally could provoke them with an active enough imagination. it does depend a lot on the person. His nosebleeds are his only loss of blood, where he should have eyes often bleeds being soaked up my the gauze to a point that it simply trickles down his cheeks. He has a very high tolerance for blood loss but he does get dizzy and occasionally faint when exerting himself.
