I've been thinking of my Grandmother Helene(Not Helen) a lot recently. I really miss her. She died about two years ago.
Parkinson's disease. My grandma died a little after two years of having it. It started by her hand shaking and her having a hard time walking. She was literally trapped in her own body. She was strong for a while but it's hard to cover it for long. She actually died of a severe case of pneumonia. It was almost a good thing that she died. If she stayed alive any longer because she would've lived in her bed and have someone change a diaper for her. That isn't like her at all.(Think Lioness in diapers. . . .Doesn't come does it?)
Parkinson's disease occurs when a group of cells in an area of the brain called the substantia nigra begin to malfunction and die. These cells in the substantia nigra produce a chemical called dopamine. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter, or chemical messenger, that sends information to the parts of the brain that control movement and coordination. When a person has Parkinson's disease, their dopamine-producing cells begin to die and the amount of dopamine produced in the brain decreases. Messages from the brain telling the body how and when to move are therefore delivered more slowly, leaving a person incapable of initiating and controlling movements in a normal way.
So, how many have learned a little something today? Also please no mean comments. This is about my Grandmother not some rant about how Inu Yasha rocks or sucks.
