Rafael and I were both silent. Neither of us liked this. Both of us hated Fioritura for getting us into this. But still, for some strange reason, she had convinced us to go to the Sun demons. Together. What idiots were we?! I trudged along the forest path, feeling my feet crunch the soft leaves under me. There were clouds in the sky, and it was threatening to rain. Urgh. Rain. The only thing that could make this trip worse. "Look!" "Hm?" I looked up, and Rafael was pointing ahead of us. We seemed to have reached some sort of cliff, or something, for there was a ledge ahead of us. As we came closer, my eyes widened as I saw the spectacular view. Apparently we had arrived at some sort of valley, and we were standing above it. It looked positively amazing! From up here, I could see the green fields and the few trees clearly, and the small ponds that dotted the area. If the sun was shining and Rafael was gone, it would look like a paradise. "I didn't mean that," Rafael growled, rolling his eyes. "I meant that." He pointed at a collection of caves that was diagonal from our standing point. They had marks on them, burn marks that were without doubt made by Sun demons. "Oh," I said, disappointed. "That."
We neared the caves, cautious, for the Sun demons were far more aggressive than the Star or Moon demons. The caves were on a low ledge, so we could jump down, sort of. I would only go in demon form if I had too, which was when there was an attack. Rafael already had his weak bow and arrow ready, though. Like they were going to help against a demon. Rafael was shaking as well. "Hey Rafael, you aren't scared, are you?" I asked, grinning meanly. "No," Rafael said, but I could see that he was lying. I chuckled slightly, which immediately angered him. "You really think you're everything, don't you, Sacheverell?!" he growled. "Let me tell you, that you are weaker of mind that any person I know!" Huh? Where was that coming from?! "I can tell you that Fioritura doesn't love you, you know," he continued, his fear suddenly replaced by the taunting tones in his voice. "She told me yesterday." My eyes flashed and I gave a warning growl. Rafael grinned. "You're a real idiot, you know that?" he said. "You're... worthless. While your father has mind and fire powers, your mother air powers, Adaline and Lauretta have water and fire, Max has both. You suck with your mind powers. You're weak." "Don't go too far, Rafael, we're too close to stop now," I growled. I tried so hard to keep my demon form under control. Once I was a demon, I couldn't resist killing someone, anyone. And Rafael was the closest, Rafael was probably the one to die, then. It was starting to rain, now. "Oh, I'm scared now, Sacheverell," Rafael retorted. "Like you could ever kill me."
That had been it. This entire trip, Rafael had been taunting and arguing and been plain annoying. Yelling, I transformed into my demon form and attacked, throwing the helpless Rafael off the ledge and into the mud below. "I think you're the helpless one here," I growled, my voice distorted in my demonic being. "I think you're the one that will die."
