~*~CHAPTER 1~*~
"What's that sound?! Don't you hear that?!" My Best friend Liz screamed.
We were walking home from the store at 11:34 at night, RIGHT AFTER I told her stories about a zombie-fied mass murderer who lived in a house by the alley we were walking through. *sigh* She belived me.
She was convinced that all of that rubbish was real, yet from the queer rustling of the bushes behind us, I was starting to get convinced too.
"There it is again, C-C!!" She grasped my arm, thinking I was the fearless one, or something.
"W-We should REALLY get home, your mom m-must want her groceries by now! heh..." Liz studdered.
"Don't be such a wuss, Liz...Jeez, we're close." There goes the rustling again. It seemed to follow us down the dark, deserted alley.
Then we heard it. What sounded like a mix of a blood-curdling scream and a hollow, droning moan. We ran home, and when we got there, we closed and locked the door.
Even through our burning lungs, parched throats, and trembling bodies, we knew there was something out there. Something stronger than ANY human, something WAY beyond our control.
