Daylog 001:
It seems that the Marrow Forest was not as innocent as I've heard. There was crazy s**t I've never even heard of. However, a nice lady in all white decided to help me out. Her was..... Sako..... Daki.....
After that, she proceeded to attack me. I flailed my parasol, and she ran back into the forest.
"I told you, Pen," Luce told me. "Never trust an Onryo."
".....That was an Onryo?"
"Idiot!" Luce rammed me in my head and I was knocked back onto the ground. "Whatever the reason for her attacking us, we gotta stay away from her and that forest!"
"But..... it's the only direct path to home."
"Then we'll go around the forest."
"There is no around. The shrine is located in a clearing in the center of the forest."
"Then why didn't you take the safe path, with all the scrolls and tags and s**t?"
"Because you'd burn up into ashes once you even try to go through."
".....Oh."
"Now then." I asked Yoko, the sentient spirit of my parasol, if she could transform into a Lantern. She gladly did so.
You see, I found Yoko one day in a box with kanji on it. I picked it up, and a blue flame soon entered my head. For some reason, now I can call the help of the friendlier spirits. Yoko also collects energy I get when I beat a Big Baddie, spirits who become huge beasts upon enough hatred and other emotions it absorbs. So far, we haven't encountered any yet, but I had enough energy for her to become a Lantern and let out blue flames that can't harm me, but release a light strong enough to illuminate things around me.
Luce sat upon my head and looked up. The moon was awfully bright, and clouds rolled by, occasionally blocking its light.
"I've got a bad feeling about this Meadow..... I've seen it somewhere, though."
"For now, let's just keep heading on," I told him.
"He's right, you know," Yoko added. "It seems like this Meadow never ends. I don't see anything beyond the horizon. No flowers, no plant or bug or animal life. Nothing."
"Bah, maybe we're just around unfertile ground."
"Then why does grass grow in abundance?"
"....I'm not sure."
