Its always lovely to see that internet problems are problems everywhere...
Spam
Phishing attempts
Password Cracking
And personally my least enjoyable problem: People whom think they were safe having rude awakenings.
Why is that my least favorite, and why do I say its a problem? Well because just like with your own home, you should feel safe and secure.
I feel slightly safe, but thats because I know whats happening, I know what it looks like, feels like, and smells like on the other side, So I know how to remain safe, but because I know these things I'm scared and paranoid (So much so that I change my password almost every week). Yes I'm a hacker, and before anyone starts flaming me, or reporting me, or any junk like that, I have NEVER done any malicious activity on gaia. That means I haven't stole anyones password, I have broken into anyones account, and I have never stolen gold or items. I love gaia, why would I want to be part of the problems, plus put on top of that I don't like doing malicious hacking anyways...if I did manage to break into someone's account I'd be the person to PM them telling them that I did it and what they're password was to prove it and heavily suggest that they change it.
Anywho, past all that...
As I said the problems here are found everywhere, so what the Gaia saftey tips and Mods and Admins tell you here can and should be applied elsewhere and to your own email, and yes you can report emails, its normaly just as easy as finding the true email host and then going to their site to retreive the report email ((Its normally something like report@blah.com or spamreport@blah.com))
But you can also reverse it, you can take useful knowledge from other places and apply them to gaia.
My two suggested reads are these:
http://www.spamprimer.com/ (Page 5 is useful.) and http://www.thisistrue.com/blog-identity_theft_protect_yourself.html
Both are written by a brilliant man Randy Cassingham who owns and operates thisistrue.com and two other sites.
Just had to put my two cents in and direct everyone's attention to those reads.
and finally to just as a kind of lightish ending to this rant o' mine a quote from a friend from another site:
"You can't be a hacker, you spell correctly and use proper grammar!"
