I figure it wouldn't hurt to talk about my life a little. Just because it's late at night and I'm bored. So let's talk a bit about school!

Let's see... the classes I'm in this semester were Numerical Analysis, Foundations of Analysis II, Modern Algebra, and Game Development.

Numerical Analysis is a fascinating course. It's all about math for computers. But not the simple low level stuff like ALU design, I'm talking methods for numerical integration, multivariate splines, approximations for solutions to non-linear systems, etc. Just today we got a brief introduction to wavelets, which are a sort of modern replacement for the Fourier series. The professor mentioned that the wavelet approximation is used in a lot of applications today. Apparently Pixar uses 'em to show different levels of detail on a character dependent on their distance from the viewer. Neat stuff.

Foundations of Analysis II is a pain. We're basically going through multivariable calculus and proving everything of importance. Problem is, I don't remember multivariable calculus very well from the time I went through it two years ago. Oops. The teacher also is terrible, which isn't helping. But I'm slogging through somehow.

Modern Algebra is group theory. Pretty easy stuff, overall. Currently acing the class, don't expect that to change.

Game Development... ah, the broken dreams. I was hoping we'd do something fun and challenging in this class. But the teacher wanted to use this engine, called Power Game Factory. It sucks. NEVER BUY IT. DON'T TOUCH IT. Ok, ok. For somebody who doesn't know how to program, it can do sidescrolling stuff reasonably well. But it's so weak, so quirky, so limited that working with it has been a freakin' nightmare! Oh, and did I mention that PGF is Mac only? Yeah. If you don't know how to program and want to make a game, go get RPGMaker or something instead. Still, the game that I've been working on is far, far superior to games everybody else has been working on. Mostly because I go to all the lab hours and fight the damn engine until I figure out how to beat it into submission.

Rawr. Enough for now. More later, perhaps.
