_Today was the Relay for Life event at the Monterey Trail high school track and football field. It's an event for people to raise money to find a cure for cancer by staying up and walking around the track throughout 24 hours. My school required a person to raise at least $100 to be able to stay over night though. I raise only about $20. >< Though I could have been able to stay the night because I had the purple wristband which allowed us to (not really, I found a piece of purple tape from the basketball court and put it around my wrist xD). In the beginning of the event, it was kind of boring. I walked around and played (or tried to learn to play) cards and Uno. There was free food and jump houses! There were alot of activities too and even a short lesson on how to dance Salsa! =D I walked around the track for about 8 laps (not much). Since I didn't even get assigned a time or group to walk with and Mr. Hyde just told me to walk whenever I wanted. All of those laps, I walked with Chen (Mai's brother). I got to know him more (even though I did most of the talking). He's a sophmore and he's a pretty nice guy... erm.. not that I'm trying to say anything.. um NEVERMIND. Then came the time to the time for MISS RELAY PAGEANT (a contest for males to dress up as girls to raise money)! Oh my goodness, it was absolutely HILARIOUS! There were MANY entrants. Two were from our school, James and Tu. James looked really nice; he actually had a feminine figure with his stuffed bra; a wig, make-up and my stunners made him look nice too. But Tu... Not to be mean, but he was HORRIBLE, the UGLIEST (as in poorly dressed and done) 'girl' there. He wore green and gold pom-poms on his head, put 2 large balloons (way obvious that they were fake because they were sticking out of his top), and 2 tennis balls or something in his butt. D: And he was doing it on behalf of Mr.Macres (our school's vice principal that recently passed away). James raised about $150. I don't know how much Tu raised, but he sold each of his boobs for a dollar. LOL! The Miss Relay raised over $600 and in total, all the guys.. um, gals raised over $3000 -All in 15 minutes! Near 10pm, they lit up the whole track with the luminaria and the bleachers with the words "hope" and "cure." It was really nice and pretty, I just had to take pictures and walk around the track again (w/ Chen, Diana, and Kevin). There was also going to be a dance through 11pm to 1am that costs only $1 to get it. Sigh.. Too bad I had to leave by 10pm. Staying over night would have been so much fun... my dad still won't give me a reason of why he won't allow me to stay. :/
