the first series was just ok because about halfway through the series it broke away from the mangas story. however the mangas and OVAs are absolutely unbelievable. its pretty much because of Hellsing that I'm the anime fan that i am today. easy 10/10.

basic idea of the story is that in England there is an organization known as Hellsing run by the descendants of Van Hellsing who battled Dracula a century ago. the organization exists to protect the crown and people of England from supernatural threats especially those posed by the undead. Hellsings ultimate weapon is a vampire that goes by the name Alucard and his newly turned underling Seras Victoria.
fairly soon a menacing ghost from the past returns and plunges england and the rest of the human world into darkness with an army of the undead.

Once a vampire came to England. To get a women he personally desired... the vampire sailed aboard a schooner. The schooner dashed from wave to wave through the fog at unbelieveable speed. The entire crew was killed. And so that ghost ship, fully laden with corpses and caskets, made port in London. Her name is Demeter. IN Russian, the Demitri.Those who gathered before a painting of ranks or spears have now met again before the real thing. Thus, all of the cast take to the stage... und raise the curtain on a walpurgis at dawn.
