Hey everyone I'm going to make this thread so everyone is free to talk and discuss but please put your spoilers in white text. Someone already had the book spoiled for them by someone in the guild and I really dont want it to happen again. Please be kind
White text:Well I thought the book was great but I was dissapointed by the epilog which I know a lot of people were. It kinda left me hanging. There are still so many questions unansered. Like what everyone ended up doing, what Harry's parents did. Now I dont know if I missed anything but what was so important about Harry having Lilly's eyes. I mean besides Snape wanting to see them well that wasnt important. And who the hell used magic later in life?
Sad Things ~ Dobby (oh my god I died had to close the book and just cry), Lupin (my fav so sad), Tonks (sad because she was dumb I would never have left my child not even for her dad some things are worth protecting and I cant see how she thought she was by running every were trying to find Lupin but still sad), Fred (so sad but I knew a Weasly would die they had way to much luck and once George lost his ear I knew him, Bill, Mr. Weasly and Ron were safe but the rest were not), Hedwig ( why!!), Mad eye ( crying , loved that Harry stolled back his eye, that evil b**ch), Collin Creavy (pore baby). Lets bow are heads in silence for the loss of such brave people.
Happy Things ~ All the evil people that died, Snape being good, Kreacher loving Harry and leading the elves into battle, the centours helping fight, Teddy Lupin and Harry Godfather, Harry not dieing, Voldemort being so dumbe, Albeforth helping, Other people getting to destroy hocruxes, Harry not being alone, Thestrals and Buckbeak helping, the final battle, Mrs Weasly being awesome and killing Belatrix, Snape's patronis, Stytherin comeing to help fight.
Lame Things ~ The way Wormtail died was really lame but still at least he died, The Epilog dont get me wrong I loved what she did write but she left so much out. Its almost like there was ment to be more. The way she ended it was like there is supposed to be another one. Kinda left you hanging.
Things left out or maybe I missed ~ I didnt get what was so important about Lilly's eyes besides Snape wanting to see them but thats not important. Who used magic later in life, did I miss that ninja . What did Harry's parents do for jobs? What did they all end up doing? She didnt say much in the epilog about anyone else all she mentioned was Hagrid is stuill at hogwarts, Draco, Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione all had children, and Neville became a teacher. Well what about everyone else. cry

Yeah, the epilogue did leave people hanging.. it was pretty unsatisfying, but it was better the second time around. I'm glad that Neville found a job that he liked--I thought that's how he would end up, as an herbology professor. But who's headmaster of the school now? Maybe I missed that. And is Teddy a werewolf? It never said, so maybe he's not... Hm. I'm glad there's a great new Minister of Magic--the last three sucked a**. Fudge was useless, Scrimgeor was worse than useless, and the third, whose name I didn't catch, didn't stay in office long enough to make a difference, and if he had, being Scrimgeor's successor, would have sucked anyway. Kingsley Shacklebolt will do a wonderful job.
The way that Jo wrote the book seemed hurried. She didn't stop to linger on the deaths, and the entire novel was incredibly fast-paced. This did two things: It made the book seem hurried and badly written, but (two) it really passed on the feel of not having time to linger on such things. See, if you were fleeing from your life from Voldy, you wouldn't have time to mourn over death and to take in all that was happening--things would be moving too fast to capture it all at once. Not until the danger was passed could you really look back and see what's happened. But it did make it seem a bit lacking, on the negative side.
Mad-Eye, Crabbe, Collin, and a couple of others that died didn't really affect me. It scared the hell out of me and brought tears to my eyes at the beginning when I thought Hagrid had died. (Of course, when I saw that he was ok, I was pretty relieved.) When Lupin, one of my favorites, was killed, I almost wept... The scene wasn't as dramatic as it probably should have been. And Jo said it wouldn't be a bloodbath.. let me count out who got killed.
Lupin Tonks Collin Fred Dobby Crabbe Mad-Eye Voldy Bellatrix (Good riddance) Hedwig Scrimgeor Pettigrew Nagini Snape
Not a bloodbath. Right. Not to mention all the others that fell by the hands of Voldy, those that go unnamed.. yeah. xD
Anyway, there's a lot more to discuss, really...

Great pint
It didn't say if Teddy was a werewolf but maybe he ended up like Bill just liking rare meat since obviously lupin want a werewolf when he was conceicved. Also he was a medimorphigus yay.

yeah I know what you mean I was really scared to reach the end of the book. So I took my time reading it which I usually never do.
I told my sister it was like saying good bye to a friend who moved away and you know you'll never see again. She proceeded on telling me I never saw them to begin with. She is not very imaginative and doesn't read books like I do. I kinda hope that what ever she does write next will at least mention some characters. Like Xanth does and Redwall just puts a smile on my face.

The book rocked! (white text) First of all I thought the plan for Harry's escape was brilliant. It was sad that Mad-eye died but it didn't really effect me. I did not think it was important to kill off hedwig which made me kinda mad but you gotta admit that it is war and people die in war. In the epilogue it mentioned that Ted visited Harry several times in a week but they were discussing adopting him. Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't Harry (being Ted's godfather) have adopted him 19 years ago? I agree with the rest of you that there wasn't enough of an epilogue but maybe she wanted us to make our own endings. Another thing is that I never knew a stunning spell could mirror a killing spell so whats up with that?

Okay white text. as far as the godfather thing it is very weird that Harry didn't get Teddy. I mean legal wise the godparents get the baby but the didn't really get to baptize him (not sure if wizards do) also I would think his grandmother would have wanted him because she lost her husband and daughter. Also she said in this interview I read that the first epilogue she wrote was really long and gave details about everyone and what they were up to but she said it didnt sound right so she changed it and wanted to make it feel like you were looking at the scene through a fog. I'm going to get the link to the interveiw so use can read it.
