I hate to be a party pooper on your topic but the signs are designed like that so that it would be easier for people to remember and write. It's not that they are wrong it is just to fit the needs of those who are in a hurry or can't remember long things.

It took me a second to catch what was wrong with the sign. It's a silly mistake, but don't cities have to order signs from somewhere? It's probably the fault of the manufacturor.

Oh Jesus... rofl I had a P.E. teacher that did something like that on a detention slip I found hidden under the bleachers. I just about died.
