Limewire
I've only used limewire, and so far, I haven't gotten any viruses. However, you may come across a few duds of songs (IE, really bad quality or stupid advertisements that were marked as the song you were looking for, thus fooling you. Dx) but I have yet to come across a virus in the music section. I haven't gone outside the music section before, so I 'unno how safe the videos, pictures, and programs are on that program so~.

Plus it's free.

Limewire's pretty safe if you know what you're doing. As Toast said, there are always duds but they've been harmless. It's just slow and full of spam results is all. :U

You could always torrent stuff. It's slow, but it's effective.
