Macaroons are actually quite good. They're very tasty - like crunchy chocolate with a twist. They're similar to cookies, but they're a little different. They can be made with nuts (most commonly almonds) but the most popular North American variety is made with coconut. I do suggest you try the coconut ones, because I'm not big fan of it and even I enjoy the occasional macaroon. You can't really taste it.
