Now, we're all familiar with Hyper mode and it's effect. But is it cheating? For a lot of people, the more spread out notes make it easier to read and allows said people to play better than before. If this is not the case, playing with it on for an extended period of time then switching it off can also help a person. I honestly have yet to meet someone that can't play the same or better on hyper mode.
Back to my point. If people use it to beat many songs that they can not normally beat...wouldn't this be considered a cheat?

Special note: I have used it, but not for any of my current career or quickplay scores in the #1 slot.

Well, we're allowed to us it in the Scorehero Leagues, and many Tournaments allow it to be turned on when played. Really, it's not much of a cheat when you consider that you can activate it without a code in Beatmania or other such games. Really, it can be easier to play with Hyper Speed, but I know a couple of people that activate because they think it's more 'challenging'. Really, I don't consider it a cheat at all. But on the side, you don't see Hellashes trying to 100% Jordan without Hyperspeed, so it's actually widely accepted. Really, I begin sentences with the word 'really' a lot, Really, this is getting on my nerves. ⌐_⌐

I don't see what would make it a cheat. It's just a way for people to read the notes better. Then again, I'm also the kind of guy that always plays DDR on 2x speed, so maybe I'm just sticking up for myself.
By the way, I only recently discovered that the 360 version has Hyper Speed as well, so I've only used it once or twice. I've been having too much fun with Performance Mode (As in, no notes displayed onscreen, you have to play the whole thing by memory.)

i agree with kutsu its not really a cheat and i do too use 2x speed on ddr
all it does is speed up things is doesnt make it easies or harder for people to plpay it dont widen the note hit range it makes them a little more spread out

Technically, playing a song for the first time with Hyper Speed activated, it tends to look just a LITTLE faster. Then again, going through each mode from the Bottom-up makes things look faster. Really. Have you ever started in Easy mode, then tried Hard? It looks wickedly faster... Really, it can be a cheat to some, and to others, it's a challenge. IT's just how you look at it, really. *Excuse all typos, as I am on a computer where I have no typing skills*

This might be a little off topic, but, has anyone ever felt that faster songs with more notes are easier then slower ones with less notes? I don't know why but it's like it's easier when it's faster.

I have tested this. I can play ANY song(besides Jordan) HP'ed and on Expert and always beat it. When I take off HP, I cant beat anything below Laid To Rest. It helps me VERY much for the same reason the OP said. The notes are spaced further apart, so my brain doesnt panic and I dont screw up. Plus its fun.

I've been having too much fun with Performance Mode (As in, no notes displayed onscreen, you have to play the whole thing by memory.) i'm more of a guitarest on the 360 but i the songs i like the most and sometimes want to sing it might come in handy yeah i use a lot of cheat codes but most of them are for fun like air instument mode and invisbile ppl mode i dont think i have identified hyperspeed just yet but when i do i jus mite try it

I think that its kind of easy because i have good cordination Ze Effect This might be a little off topic, but, has anyone ever felt that faster songs with more notes are easier then slower ones with less notes? I don't know why but it's like it's easier when it's faster.

I dont see hyper speed as a cheat if u have it 4 or 5 it makes it harder and 3- around the same. but maybe a bit easier on 1

I developed a logical hypothesis on hyperspeed and their levels.
1. A bit faster, and only a slightly noticeable difference. Doesn't really help you perform better.
2. Average-fast, and a clearly noticeable difference. Speed gives you a quick reaction time. Best hyperspeed IMO.
3. Faster. Definitely noticeable difference. May be a bit too fast for people who aren't used to hyperspeed. Second best IMO.
4. Very fast. See the difference? Of course you do. The notes are practically flying at you, and you may constantly struggle.
5. Extremely fast. About twice the speed of the regular speed. You'll probably miss a lot of notes on the fast-paced songs.
All in all, I say you should use Hyperspeed 2.
