Yeah, there is death in this. Just a warning.
Bryce crawled out the window and sat on the fire escape. He looked up at the pitch black sky hoping to see a star shining brightly. He jumped as a car many stories below honked it's horn.
There were no stars out tonight. Even if there were he wouldn't be able to see them. The lights from the skyscrapers were too bright.
Bryce knew that wising on a star didn't matter. He knew for a fact. He's tried many times. Too many times to count.
He always wished for the same thing. He wished that his father would stop coming home drunk and beating his mother every night. Bryce knew his father wouldn't give up his booze. Eventually drinking would lead his father to an early grave. Bryce just thought it would be nice if his father left his mother and him alone.
Every night Bryce had to endure the nightmare of his father coming home reeking of beer and so drunk he couldn't even walk in a straight line.
Every night his father would head to the bedroom and beat his mother for no reason at all. He wouldn't stop until his loving wife was laying on the floor in a pool of her own blood and tears.
Every night Bryce would hide on the fire escape in hopes of not hearing his mothers sobbing pleas. The city traffic never completely drowned it out.
Just yesterday Bryce's aunt came over with an envelope containing money. It was supposed to pay for their freedom. They were going to start over. Just his mother and him. No drunken b*****d. They were going to pack their things while the loving father and husband sat at the bar. They were going to get away from all the abuse.
Instead his father found the envelope and walked out the door. Bryce knew the money was gone; never to be seen again. He hoped some bar owner had fun spending his freedom money.
He heard his mother scream from the other room and tears began to fall from his blue eyes. Bryce couldn't stand this life anymore. He was so close to freedom today. Bryce remembered something he read in a Stephen King book. There were worlds other than this. Maybe if he fell like that boy in The Gunslinger he'd wind up in another world; a better world.
Without hesitating he jumped. Bryce's blonde hair blew in the wind. He smiled. He would be free soon. He'd be in a better place.
Bryce felt no pain as he hit the sidewalk. A lady walking past screamed as the body fell. She quickly ran across the street sobbing. A few people gathered around Bryce to gawk.
Bryce's unseeing eyes looked up at the sky where the stars began to show themselves. He was free from this life. No longer would he have to endure the physical and mental pain his father inflicted on his mother and him.

Thank you. ^_^ Reno, Tony wanted me to post a story, but I couldn't post what I was working on because of the whole PG-13 rule. So I came up with a quick story. Well, get thinking about that story! I want to see it. ^_^

I know, but it's still sad. Is this other story not going to include shocking deaths?

.Drakul Demon Kitty. I know, but it's still sad. Is this other story not going to include shocking deaths? Well, someone did die at the beginning, but he deserved what he got.
