Oh god. Oh god, oh god, oh god! She was going to die. No. ... No, she could run. He'd told her to run, so she would run, and hide, and do everything she could to stay alive. Pumpkin Tart ran as though her life depended on it... and it really very well might. Her heart in her mouth, terror trying to wash every thought out of her mind, she ran. The Kalona could fly. She knew that. Knew it, and hoped that the fell creature wouldn't use it. Internally, she whimpered. She hadn't meant to come near the winged one's territory. She was just doing what she normally did, hiding from everyone. It didn't even occur to her to stay and fight. She was much, much too frightened. Her mane and tail streamed out behind her like banners, and it was all she could do to keep her legs going, keep her muscles pumping. Fear had an icy grip on her heart, and it didn't seem like it was going to let go anytime soon.

Loveless was pleasantly basking in the moonlight when something orange had invaded her territory. She could see the fear in its eyes, and she was intrigued by its terror. She needed this kind of challenge, a hunt, all by herself. Something was her prey, finally. It was a vision that had only appeared in her dreams. Even in the momnet of chasing after the orange spectacle, she was drunk in the utter brilliance of chasing behind something. She was in control, and she had power over another being.
Her dark body blended almost too perefectly into the muggy forest, and she moved swiftly, like a shadow behind a victum. She knew exactly where the female was running, and sooner or later, she would be stuck, with no where to run.
Such a beautiful plan, Loveless only followed behind, gleaming with gruesome desires. The female could have run the other way, but she chose the wrong way, and Loveless could only relax until the fun began.

Pumpkin Tart? Now, what was she doing up so late?
Kitsune rolled onto his legs from dozing under the cool night sky. He had gone to sleep early, but awoke to not only to the smell of Pumpkin Tart, but also to a strange rumble of hooves not too far away.
The only thing that disturbed him, was the vibrations of the ground were signaling a movement that was full of unevenness, which Kitsune noticed in others when they were running from something. It gave him the impression that Pumpkin Tart was fleeing to somewhere!
With his mind set on following the noises and smells, he grabbed his sword and trotted off, carefully keeping his ears perked on where the sounds were going. It was difficult, but he hoped if he kept moving, he could reach their destination soon enough.

Her heart had to be beating a thousand miles a minute, she was so scared. Oh god, I don't want to die! And she hadn't yet learned how to fight. To her terror, her absolute horror, she came right up against the base of a cliff. A sheer, unscalable cliff face. She hadn't been thinking. She obviously hadn't been thinking. In her moment of fear, Pumpkin Tart turned to face the Kalona, the smooth rock at her back. For the moment, she couldn't see her, but if she was running, there was only one direction she could come from. If she was flying... well, that might be worse. The mare whinnied, and reared a little, showing that she still had a little spirit. A very, very little spirit. It was a tiny thing, really, and all of it she'd gained in training with her friend. Her rather orange friend. Kitsune.

"Now now," Loveless approached, and eyed the mare carefully. She was a bit bigger in size, and although her dark body was hard to see, she must have looked like a nightmare with her eyes. The yellow orbs that her mother had passed her gleamed at the orange being, and she curved her lip into a smile, showing only her fangs. "It seems I have gotten lucky tonight." Foolish thing, one wrong move, and here she was. It was like she was a gift for Loveless.
Did she even deserve words? Now that Loveless thought about it, this was her fist time being dominant to another adult. Obviously her instincts told her to tear apart the orange thing in front of her, but she wondered if there was a certain way to proceed in her planning. "Any words, orangey?" She hissed, and spread her wings in intimidation. A few seconds didn't matter in this scenario, and her curiosity was aiming towards the reaction of the female.

Kitsune was now out of breath, and was stumbling around because he was lost. The movement had stopped, and now he had no leads on where they were! With only a small scent of Pumpkin Tart to guide him, he flung as quickly as he could through the forest, hoping he could make it in time. Just what the heck was going on here!
If the movement stopped, that only meant that things were bad, or that even the worst had happened!
He didn't like worrying about another, but his instict told him to help Pumpkin Tart. He was the first mare he enjoyed, ever, so he could never allow her to face harm.

Suddenly, there was more fight in Pumpkin Tart. She smelled Kitsune. He was her first, and only friend. And she didn't want to die yet. "Go away, Kalona. Go back to the sh-shadows." Yes, it took a lot of effort for her to stand up to Loveless. "I'm not f-food for you." Damn that stutter! It appeared when she was frightened, and now it didn't seem to want to go away. She felt defiant, and so very, very terrified. She knew her mentor was nearby, but what could he do? Silently, she chastised herself. She needed to have more faith in him. In others. In even her own abilities.

PostPosted: Wed Jun 13, 2007 10:16 pm
A small snort errupted from Loveless' snout, and she only grinned larger to reveal her awful fangs. "And, what if I say no to your de-demand?"
And with that she swerved her body forward into a fast counter-in towards the female. Victory was a sweet feeling, and after hearing the response of the mare, she was satisfied with her few stuttering words. Nothing else needed to be stated, it was all over already. Just a bit closer for Loveless, and she would be able to taste the warm flesh that the mare possesed.

Kitsune darted through the trees only to see an opening, with a cliff, Pumpkin Tart, and a Kalona female closing in on her! "Stop RIGHT THERE!" He exclaimed, noticing the Kalona female distracted with his presence. He moved his legs even faster into a gallop, only to intemidate the Kalona with his couragious speed. "Pumpkin Tart, dart over there!" He instructed her to move to the right, because the Kalona female had stumbled herself more to the left, leaving a safe haven open since Kitsune was now the distraction.

"Daaaamit!!!" Loveless caught herself before the stumble, but fumed angerly at the new stallion that had appeared. Another orange fool? "What the hell is this!" She halted but laid her eyes on the male, only distracted for a brief second, a second that was idiotic in her favor!

Eyes wide with fear, Pumpkin Tart obeyed Kitsune's instructions. It was in her to obey, and obey instantly. For this moment, that was good. And it was a damn good thing she hadn't just let the Kalona eat her. That might've given her the time she needed for him to show up. She was frightened, but she wasn't without spirit or a will to live. She darted out, away from the mare, and put enough distance between her and the dark creature that the female couldn't just snap her up. But... she didn't want to live him alone. Not to face the frightening beast. Torn between wanting to stay and help, and wanting to get the hell out of there, she quivered, staying stock still. For now. Her muscles were tense, and she was ready to run in one direction or the other at a moment's notice.

Kitsune was satisfied with Pumpkin Tarts movement, but he wished she would have escaped the area all together. His eyes only flared angerly when he noticed how afraid Pumpkin Tart was. "I am your opponent now." He said to Loveless, with the most serious voice that he had used in awhile. Showing the Kalona female that he meant business, he flicked his head quickly only to unsheath his dagger from its cover. The pure silver gleamed in the darkness, and it felt good to have it unsheathed again.
This was nothing but a challenge for him, something he lived for, and desired for. Challenges only brought about strength, and that was his only goal in life.
Pumpkin Tart was dear to him in a strange way, and he could never let this Kalona walk all over her like that. Her fear was disgusting, but rather then being ashamed in Pumpkin Tart's case, he wanted to help her out in the situation. He had to show her that conflicts were resolved.
This predictament could only make him and Pumpkin Tart stronger, and he knew that right away.

Loveless was pissed that the mare was out of her reach, but it seemed the stallion had his own way of playing games. A sword? Yeah right, that was about the stupidest thing she had ever seen.
"Are you going to poke me with that?" She hissed angerly, and turned her attention completely on him. It seemed he wanted a fight, and although she was more suprised then anything, she wondered why the stallion was so confident.
Loveless turned her eyes to Pumpkin Tart, and she grinned happily. "After I destroy this orange fool, I will rip your pretty face to shreds." The mare was staying for the show? Foolish, but more perfect for Loveless. Hopefully she could finish her off after the stallion. It would be more fun then, especially when the mare say the stallion laying dead at Loveless' feet.

The threats only served to make Pumpkin Tart angry. And... strangely, protective. Kitsune was her friend. He helped her, and he didn't think she was so awkward as everyone else seemed to. He was nice. And damn it, she wasn't going to let him get hurt! With a shrill whinny, she reared again, defiance ringing in her tone. "If you hurt him like that, I will find a way to make you hurt just as much!" Somehow, she'd managed to say that without stuttering. Still, she feared the Kalona mare. The wicked thing seemed to think she'd won already. She took note of how he held his sword, and faced his foe. Maybe she could still learn something from this. But she knew that if things got bad, she wouldn't be staying on the sidelines.

PostPosted: Wed Jun 13, 2007 10:49 pm
That was much better. Pumpkin Tart was now much better. Kitsune only grinned, having a shrill of confidence from Pumpkin Tart's words. "Kalona." He said, with a blunt snort. "What gave you the idea that you can destroy me?"
And with the fast ending of his words, he galloped in as quickly as he could only to flip his sword in the other direction, and with a quick wisp he slashed one of the Kalonas legs.

Pain?? Blood? Loveless wasn't supposed to be the one feeling this! With an outraged expression, she put her jaws on the stallions shoulder, though did not dig in as she had expected too. He was MUCH too fast for her movements, and she watched him bounce away pratically unharmed. Her leg was sore, it gashed and dripped. The cut was not deep, but it was positioned right around her kneecap.
The stallion had more experience then she had assumed, and she felt idiotic in a sense. "Dammit" she tried to cool herself and think up a better plan.

Kitsune's shoulder hurt, but it was nothing compared to past injuries. "Pumpkin Tart." he said, while glancing at her, now closer to her side from his past attack, "May this be lesson one- I have injured one of her legs, so now the monster has lost a crucial speed point." He nodded and smiled at her, ignoring the bleeding shoulder that he had.

Pumpkin Tart watched, taking careful note of everything they did. The Kalona's strategy was all wrong. He was fast. Too fast for that kind of approach. It would be better if she pressed the advantage that being winged would give her... but she probably wouldn't. She seemed, in a way, somewhat inexperienced. That was good for them. She let out a breath, and watched nervously, afraid for Kitsune, but also proud of him. He was so very brave. Maybe, if she really worked at it, she could be like that. Still... she didn't like that his shoulder was bleeding. She paced a little, needing the chance to work out her nerves. If things got even a bit iffy, she knew that she'd probably attack, too.

PostPosted: Wed Jun 13, 2007 11:03 pm
Loveless felt cornered, but wouldn't allow such insecure feelings to absorb her mind. She knew she could retreat, easily, but the timing was not ready for that. There had to be other options for this plan, and she eyed the two orange fools suspiciously.
"Aah, teaching I see?" She hissed at the stallion, still pissed off about her cut. "Why don't I give a lesson or two of my own?"
Loveless still having her wings unharmed, lifted herself into the air, knowing that now she could have the stallion's speed advantage. "Now, come." She sneered, and dove towards the direction he stood.

Ugh, this was not good. The only problem with injuring the female's leg, was that now she would rely on her wings. On Kitsune's behalf, he was a bit worried, only because he should have calculated which speed as faster- flight or ground. And, looking at the approaching female, it looked as though air was a strongpoint.
He galloped towards her, only to quickly side-step to the right.

Loveless grinned, knowing that last time the stallion moved his body was to the right, and she played her cards that he would use that move again. "Got you." She said, and with that she swiftly grabbed him by the neck, only to get bucked in the body in his reaction. What she did to him didn't nearly hurt her as much as she had damaged him. She had grabbed him much deeper this time, and his blood tasted delicious in response. Her body hurt, but she ignored the weakness, only to feel triumphant against him.

With a squeal of pure fury, Pumpkin Tart threw herself into the foray without any thought to her personal safety. That evil, evil mare was hurting him. Kitsune. Her friend. She planted her front hooves firmly on the ground and kicked out with her back hooves, connecting wickedly with the Kalona's side. She was beyond angry. She was furious, and utterly terrified for Kitsune. He was hurt. Really hurt. Evil, cruel mare! Her eyes flashed with defiant wrath, and she tried to remember everything that he'd told her about fighting. It wasn't much yet, but it would have to be enough. She tried desperately to get Loveless off of him, putting her heart into it.

PostPosted: Wed Jun 13, 2007 11:19 pm
Loveless was completely shocked that the stuttering mare had approached the scene. And, her kicking didn't help at all either! Unfortunately, her grasp on the stallion was lost, and she darted away from the both of them. With a huff and a puff, she left some distance, breathing in heavily out of exhausting. Her snout dripped with Kitsune's blood, and she looked monstrous in response. "Didn't expect that." she mumbled to herself.
This wasn't what she wanted at all!!

Kitsune fell hard to the ground, but wouldn't allow the terrible damage to make him stay down. "Pumpkin Tart, you.." he stopped talking, well, at least until he could stand himself up again. He body stumbled, but he lifted his head up after picking his sword up.
"That was good." He said, barely looking her in the eye. He must have looked pathetic, needing the help of a FEMALE. But, Pumpkin Tart had really helped him there, the female Kalona was much smarter then he had calculated once again. "Lesson two- Maybe slashing Kalona wings are better?" He looked at Pumpkin Tart with a slight grin, happy to have a moment to breath again.
He couldn't show her how badly his body ached, but a part of him wanted to fall to the ground, just to rest for the remainder of the night. But, something so stupid could be done later, was what he kept telling himself.
He was losing more blood then he had thought initially from his neck, and he sneered at how awful the move was in the Kalonas favor.

Pumpkin Tart nuzzled Kitsune tentatively, checking him over for damage. When her nose came away covered in blood, she was more than a little alarmed for him. "We need to find a unicorn for you," she said, a bit panicked. "You're hurt." Why had he gone and gotten himself hurt? "You didn't have to do that," she whispered, her voice full of her fear. They really needed to find someone to heal him. He was bleeding a lot more than she'd first thought. He was still smiling. Why? Was he that good natured that even now, when he was in pain he'd smile? Or was it kind of an ironic smile? She'd barely even noticed the compliment he'd paid her. There were so many more important things to do, to notice.
