I'm looking at Suikosouce, and I just realized (though I read it already), that the rune of Change represents change that affects the entire universe.
So, I was thinking... does that mean that the owner (if there is one) is the one affecting the events in Suikoden as they are now? Does this rune really have the ability to change outcomes? Wouldn't it be funny if this rune is what the final (gasp!) Suikoden game has to face at the end.
I know, this is totally out there, but it just had me thinking. I'm likely WAY off.

I never thought of it that way, I think that's really thought out. But who would that be, God in the Suikoden world?

Omigosh... how about... the Circle Rune vs. the Change Rune? It would totally work.
I would love to have the Rune of Change. That's the kind of rune that a Tenkai would find in some old Sindar ruins, because the leader of the Sindar is thought to possess the Change Rune.
I wonder what it does...? cool

Nah, that theory wouldn't work. No True Rune is ever more powerful than the other. They all balance each other out basically. (As far as I remember anyway.)
I think though a lot of the True Runes are KIND of . . . dumb. Like the Dragon Rune for one. I mean sure it's nice for them to exist in their world, but that's about all it does other than let you command them with ease.
That's my two cents.

That's my two cents. You're missing the point, but I'll leave it at that. I probably went off a rocket, but still. I think it'd be a dumb way to "end the series".
Besides, like the legend goes, everything was created when Sword and Shield fought each other. I don't think the Rune of Change has the ability.
Most runes usually just affect the bearer.

The True Rune of Change represents change in the world, and because it exists things will not stagnate.
However, the True Rune of Change is currently in posession of whoever leads the Sindar people. This is why they're traveling around all the time Apparently the Sindar will stop traveling around when they find their Eternal City, and I'm guessing that means they will never stop searching. "Eternal" and "Change" are opposites, and it would be such wonderful irony if "Eternal City" means death.
You could make the case that it's indirectly influencing others (All of the important Ruins the Sindar leave lying around), but other than that your theory falls flat.

Most runes usually just affect the bearer. I'm sure the series won't end that way. This is merely a fan theory that was just randomly cooked up in 5 minutes. I, in no way, am endorsing this. The theory has nothing to do with creation, so again, you're missing the point. Fenrirsulfr The True Rune of Change represents change in the world, and because it exists things will not stagnate. However, the True Rune of Change is currently in posession of whoever leads the Sindar people. This is why they're traveling around all the time Apparently the Sindar will stop traveling around when they find their Eternal City, and I'm guessing that means they will never stop searching. You could make the case that it's indirectly influencing others (All of the important Ruins the Sindar leave lying around), but other than that your theory falls flat. Of course it does, I wouldn't have pointed out that it's "way off" if it wasn't. So what I've been really trying to make with this inquiry was mostly for the rune itself, not the involvement it will have upon the series. Thus the "Wouldn't it be funny..." comment (just in case this is were the "falls flat" comment spawned from, as it seems you've answered my questions) P.S. My typing style has a very condescending tone to it. But don't take it as such.

Pftttt to me the end of the series would be the reunion of the True runes, afterall they did say that everything started with the sword and the shield fighting against one another stating one can break though any defense while the other can defend against any attack(well something like that). If this story is in fact true, then to truly end all wars we must reunite the sword and the shield(The true runes based mainly for attacks and the true runes based mainly for defense) as they are the cause of many wars in the suikoden world... That would be so cool now that I think about it ^^, all our favorite characters can come together. I believe that after the 27th true rune is reveiled and after a few other titles we might get this ending, but then again it is hard to get all 27 together since not all want to come together.
But this just goes along with the legend, which I like a whole lot :p. Feels a lot like what the Celts believe back then.

My ideal ending: The True Runes gather, cool fight scene (gotta have a fight scene), and in the end, they all return to become the sword and shield once more. So they basically leave the world, but they're still there, you know, like stars in the sky. I think that would be such a bittersweet ending... Even though those who bore TR's for too long (i.e. Geddoe) will die, naturally, but you know, the TR's are gone, so no more wars will start over them. Maybe.
With TR's gone and no more possible wars, Suikoden... wouldn't really have a point anymore. Of course, there can always be Gaidens... and blast-to-the-past games...

After an epic ending like that I don't know if I could summon the will to play 'blast from the past' games o.o
Although if it did well I could see Konami selling out for a sequel. Suikoden: Apocalypse. Sword and Shield reincarnate, return to their original battle and again break in the process, this time killing almost everyone and destroying all major cities. The remaining survivors are cursed with the return of the true runes and the blood filled battles over who gets to bear them.

That would be my ideal Suikoden wish: Chikuu's ending happening then Shi_Yatsu's start up again a few years after that! I'd love it. (But not so, if Yuber wasn't in it anymore.)
