Should we let the new 4kids voices stay in the games, or should we bring back the old character voices from SA thru SH?
Personally, I miss the old voices. I want them back because they just seem like they belong to the characters. Ryan Drummond brought alot more emotion into Sonic than how Jake Griffith (or whatever that new guy's name is) did. Ryan gave alot more "umph". By the way, did you hear Sonic's laugh in Sonic '06? He sounded like he could be goofy's son.

Not that the fans could have much of a say (or at least I wouldn't get my hopes up) in terms of what VAs appear. But, I've come to be more indifferent to the new voice cast in the latest games.
I know a lot of people are miffed that Sonic and co. are given voices by the same company who prioritizes toy sells over dub quality, but despite that, the voice actors haven't really done that bad of a job. After all, a good majority of them did work for animes prior to being hired by 4Kids, so they have the experience.
To be honest, I thought the 360/PS3 title had perhaps the best voice acting of all the post-Adventure games (can't speak for Secret Rings, as I've never played it). Everything just sounded more natural, even if the voices themselves didn't fit perfectly (still prefer Tails' SA voice actor, in terms of pitch).
Wouldn't mind seeing some of the old VAs coming back, though some might have more to live up to than others. Eggman's first VA died several years back, so his 4Kids one might stick around in any event. And I really liked Silver and Blaze's voices, so I can't imagine them sounding like anyone else.

Anyway, Sonic's voice has got to go. Amy's voice is a little bit whiny, so i prefer her SH voice. There is not much that you can do for cream's voice. It will be high and squeeky either way. Tails' SH voice was so cute! whee i like that one. Rouge's voice rolleyes ...well, the average 18 year old doesnt sound quite like that. But, Knuckles voice is pretty good, actually i like knuckles voice. I love shadow's voice though, jason griffith (or whats his face) does and awesome job making shadow sound, "EVil and mysterious" Now i'll stop Talking. wink

Being a person who played the newer games first and then went back to get older games like SH (I didn't own GCN at the time so even if I wanted it I couldn't get it) I think the voices are a poor fit from back then. Amy's voice is good now, and Rouge's just....fits now. I do agree Tails' voice from SH is way better than now because it reminds me of the SatAM TV show so much, and I'm not sure when they switched voices for Shadow, but I wanna know what he sounded like before everyone hated his voice! whee Sonic's is alright, but the emotions put into the work are all the same, two sentences have almost exactly the same emphasis on words, phrases, etc. (those who've played SatSR know what I mean, especially with Shara....though she is a cool character)

*laughs evily* I HATE 4KIDS!!! not just there actors, but some of there shows I hate! I didn't mind them doing sonic x, it was untill they started voiceing the sonic video games where I got mad at 4kids. That's why I'm going to destory them when there not looking! twisted

Nuala What is it about them that's so bad? The fact that some poeple hate hearing voices that sound the same from other shows or games, and sometimes even characters.

I haven't really seen the cartoon series much at all of Sonic, but if they don't have the voices from the games, then I don't know if I want to. (Even though I still do) When and where's it on, anyway? D:

4-Kids, oh how I loathe them.
You should see what they've done to a lot of the anime they license. Soooooo much is lost in their translations >.< I download the Japanese versions of their shows so I can actually enjoy them. Sonic X may not have been translated too bad, since the show seemed to aim for the younger audiences anyway, but shows like One Piece have been completely butchered beyond belief.
The shows and videogames sound so much better in their native language. I'd rather read subtitles and enjoy the voices than risk my ears bleeding >.<

I find that with most things - it's almost always better to watch in the original language. As a rule, I hate dubs, whether it's watching "Asterix & Obelix", "Kommissar Rex", "Les Mysterieuses Cites D'Or", "Dartacan" or "Sonic X".
I think producers assume that people can't be bothered with reading subtitles. And it does make it hard to do something else at the same time as watching TV (such as net surfing or embroidering in my case).
Still, it's one of the things I like about "Heroes" - that they subtitle the Japanese rather than showing everyone speaking English.
