Had a mini debate with a friend here on Gaia about Lolita fashion and how it isn't very flattering, in her opinion, for larger females. I think that some things can be pulled off by a fuller figure (corsets, anyone?) but I was wondering if anyone knew any designs that are more flattering for bigger girls.
And anyone know of a nice site for parasols? I searched Ebay, but there weren't many colors to choose from!

Hmmm... I used to know one...
On the larger lolita issue, I think it can be done, but you have to make sure and not wear stuff that's too foo-foo. Gothic Lolita would probably look better on a larger woman, as opposed to sweet-loli +shudders+. And corsets would be a big plus.

And anyone know of a nice site for parasols? I searched Ebay, but there weren't many colors to choose from! I agree that it's not flattering for bigger women. The point of Lolita is "Small young girl who's somewhat seductive."
Of course in fashion it somewhat loses this meaning. But the point of Lolita is to somewhat give of a little girl-ish feel, even in Gothic styles. The big poofy skirts, little headdresses, etc.
So I don't think larger women quite give off this vibe, or pull it off very well.
Just my opinion.
Also, this is why this style mostly looks good on Japanese women, because they're small and dainty, it seems to fit. If you be my star, I'll be your sky.

I love Lolita, my favs are Gothic lolita, Gurololi and Cyber Lolita <3
I own a few lolita outfits but I can't afford them often. And it's such an alien concept here I don't really have the guts to go out in my clothes much :[
What I really like is when I see people mix n matching with different styles, and I think if lolita was included it would look amazing (say 'normal' clothes with the lolita headband. not a great example but you get me. I hope.)

I personally love going out in full Loli; I like making people uncomfortable. Which might be a bad thing...
