Has anyone else read the Read or Die manga? I got the first four as a present this past Sunday. I've read the first, but I'm not much of a manga reader (though I love the R.O.D. anime), and I think I was missing some of the subtle points. (i.e., why do Yokimo and Nenene refer to each other as "sensai"?)
What did anyone else think?

I just read part of the first volume in Books A Million. It really looks good, and I hope I can buy a few soon.
Yomiko refers to Nenene as "sensei" because she's such an admirer of her literary work, and Nenene to Yomiko because Yomiko is a teacher.

Except for the fact that I adore Riley who doesn't show up until later on, the first volume of R.O.D. is the only good part about the series. This is just my opinion, but I'm glad that I didn't buy the manga. Ah, ILL saves me so much money!

Is Read or Dream related to Read or Die the OAV?

Read or Dream is the TV show version with the Three Paper Sisters, more or less a sequal it's less serous and more of a Comidy
(as the author pointed out: Read or Die -> Action; Read or Dream -> Fantasy)

I have all of the R.O.D. Manga, i like the ones with the paper sisters better. It's fun to watch them get all crazy over books, except for Annita.

I've been working on trying to fan translate one of them and it is slow going.

I got the first 2 Read or Dream for Christmas, now I'll have to go buy the others with some of my Borders money. Too bad those light novels aren't available commercially.

I just started reading Dead Or Die, but I'm in the middle of Read Or Dream, Love them both. Yomiko is my favorite. XD I even used her last name as my Animal Crossing: Wild World Town name lol I'm such a bookworm/otaku~ Note: I do believe the OVA is sometime during Read Or Die, Its not connected to Read Or Dream other then the underlineiing theme of book obsessed characters.

To put it simply, the OAV/TV series are separate from the two mangas. The first manga series, Read or Die, could fit in between the OAV and the TV series, but there are some inconsistencies between them. Read or Dream, however, really is just a stand-alone series.
Besides that, both series are really good, and anyone can enjoy them.
