In a fifteenth-century edition of the King James Bible, the word 'not' was acciently ommited from the seventh commandment, so that it actually encouraged readers to commit adultery. The copies were recalled immediately (dashing the hopes of many).
'Loins' became 'lions' in an 1804 edition to read rather confusingly: 'thy son shall come forth out of thy lions'.
