So, I just saw a commercial for a phone sevice, don't really know which one, I was playing my piano at the beginning of it. (I like the TV as background noise for everything, thank you.) I stopped playing and watched as a mother and like an eight year old daughter fought over the daughter's text messaging use. I was absoultely terrified.
The girl spoke entirely in text talk. The only real word she used was her "BFF"'s name. And the mother understood EVERYTHING. What the ********? They even gave the girl ******** subtitles so you could understand her. And at the end of the commercial they said, "Now text messaging is NBD." It took me freakin' forever to get that "NBD" meant "no big deal".
For Christ's sake, it is a big deal. Just look at that little girl! Why the ******** are eight year olds getting cellphones in the first place? Who're they calling anyway? Their drug dealers? Damn, kids are starting early nowadays.
Damn. I'm so freaked. I should put this s**t on my site just to show I haven't forgotten that I shell out eight or nine bucks a month to keep it up. (Psh. Lies. Wait... am I paying nine dollars...?)
I need a drink.

I saw that too! I was half asleep but as soon as I heard the girl doing... that. I woke up and turned the TV off. I think it was for some sort of cell phone thing. The subtitles are what really got me! It goes to show you that we can't UNDERSTAND what they are saying!

The sad part of it is, I have so many friends who shorten their words and text like that, I hardly had to glance at the subtitles. It's a scary commercial, but I must admit that I'm amused by it
