But there are no faeries! gonk
So, really, in Etiktik it would be: ōtūg *faerie
*would actually be whatever word they stole from another culture's language that would mean faerie. sweatdrop
BUT
If they were teaching the concept of *faerie to someone unfamiliar with it, faerie would probably be: fla-fla ski-ski kūntūk-ū salikū
(or "floating-floating small-small human-with wings" being the literal translation, or "flying tiny human with wings)
So... in all Etiktik it would be: ōtūg fla-fla ski-ski kūntūk-ū salikū
although you'd NEVER hear someone say that!

Really? That's kinda neat that the whole concept of a faerie wouldn't exist. The culture that I'm creating is an elvish one, so magick and faeries are commonplace. (The whole reason that this is an insult in the first place is because faeries have a tendensy to grant stupid human wishes... sweatdrop whee )
If you want to borrow a word, then "chikichi" is the word for faerie, though I don't know the phonetics of your language so you'd probably have to adjust the pronounciation and spelling and what-not. 3nodding
Just sayin', in case you wanted a word. whee

In the culture I'm creating, they don't really believe in mythical creatures, and they obviously wouldn't exist. So if/when they come across a different culture that DOES have stories of mythical creatures and such, they borrow a few of the stories (because they enjoy learning about other cultures.... most of the time. whee ) and the names that go with it.
Phonetically, I believe my language is very limited - it doesn't have the 'ch' sound for example. But that doesn't mean that the people wouldn't try to learn the 'ch' sound to be able to say 'chikichi'.
So yeah, if our cultures were to ever meet, the translation of "incompetent faerie" would be "ōtūg 'chikichi'"

My previous conlangs for that is basically like the german, and Dutch one, Kratoshku doesn't use fairy it's a loan word as is incompetent. So the only one I can translate it in is Kokussen
Færíýkva-čållómeðssa-vşüvyr (Faerie- incompetent-winged creature) or Čålojstra-færíýssa (Imcompetent faerie) or Maříjkalla-vşürevómád-čålstrássen-řja (Magical-Winged-Creature-Incompetent)
