I think I like the tv actors more, just because I saw them first and got to know them more, so to me, there's no other actor than can portray that character.

Of course, Gary Burgoff did a pretty good Radar in the movie. I think I might like him better even...

Decisions, decisions. confused

I like the actors in the TV show better.

I remember seeing the pilot (after seeing other epis) and seeing the Padre as a different actor and being like "WTF who is that...why are they calling him Mulcahy, thats not Mulcahy! When did they do this switch! Bring back other better dude!" The next epi he was back. So yeah William Christopher was definatly better.

Truth be told I have never watch the movie from begining to end, mostly because I was already watching the series when my parents told me there was a movie. I tried to watch it but I only ended up getting confused. One day I will watch it all the way through.

Although I doubt it would change my view that the TV had better actors.

Quote:
Donald Sutherland(Movie) or Alan Alda(Tv) As Hawkeye?
Donald Sutherland by a margin. I like both, but Sutherland was more of a wiseass, which made him funnier.

Quote:
Elliot Gould (Movie) or Wayne Rogers (Tv) As Trapper John?
Wayne Rogers.
Wayne Rogers was more likeable. When Eliot Gould as Trapper got in a nurse's face and angrily snapped orders at her (especially when he demanded she make him something to eat) I instantly hated him.

Quote:
Sally Kellerman (Movie) or Lorreta Swit (Tv) As Hot Lips?
Switt, later on.
In the first few seasons, Switt was just playing up Kellerman's hypersexual sexpot-ness, and it just didn't look good. Kellerman did it better.
Later on, when Loretta Switt gave Margaret Houlihan a spine and a personality, I liked her better as Margaret.

Quote:
Robert Duvall(Movie) or Larry Linville (Tv) As Ferret Face?
Linville, no contest.
Larry Linville delivered laughs by the U-Haul load as Frank. He brought more vigor to the character than Robert Duvall.

Quote:
Roger Bowen(Movie) or McLean Stevenson(Tv) As Henry Blake?
Tie.
They both were pretty much copies of each other, and they both played the archtypical character superbly.

Quote:
Rene Auberjonois(Movie) or William Christopher(Tv) or George Morgan (Pilot) As Father Mulcahy?
William Christopher, without a doubt.
He was lovable, amiable, charming, had a killer personality, and he was a boxer, which is awesome.

Quote:
Gary burghoff(movie) or Gary Burghoff(Tv) As Radar?
Neither. Or, both. I haven't decided.

Same with me, and overall, I just wasn't a big fan of the movie. To put it more plainly, I didn't like the movie AT ALL!

Well, you know, it doesn't really matter, because Radar's played by the same person in both the movie and the show.

I've only seen the movie once a while ago, but I still think of Alan Alda as Hawkeye, not Donald Sutherland

I like the tv actors better. I guess because, as someone said above, that I saw them first and got used to them before I saw the movie.

Spearchucker: Fred Williamson or Timothy Brown?

Dish: Jo Ann Pflug or Karen Phillip?

I prefer Fred Williamson for Spearchucker. All the Timothy Brown version ever really did was sleep.

For Dish, I prefer Jo Ann Pflug. The movie version had a more prominent role.
