I was browsing through the news articles and came accross some serious matters concerning global warming. I know it's a real problem, there's lot's of evidence to support it, but I also know there are alot of skeptics out there. "The tsunami in the South Pacific, Hurricane Katrina and the unseasonable heat in late winter and early spring are all signs that the weather is just going to continue changing." sourceI even came across this article that say's Global Warming is a hoaxe and that's it's a liberal conspirecy. Check it out hereThey even provide you alink to a film caled the "Global Warming SWindle" It's retarded, but I'm open to the other side. It's true that throughout history the temperature of the earth has changed dramatically. WE have the ice age to show that, also ancient species that have gone extinct due to dramatic temperature changes, but those kind of changes take millions of years, and we are doing what happens in millions of year in a span of like 100yrs. Since the start of the industrial revolution we have started to speed up the procces of warming the earth and changing the temperature extreamly. Former Vice President Al Gore made a documentary called 'An Inconvinient Truth' I myself actually havent seen it, but I'm sure it's a good film and based off very factual information. *goes to rent* Al Gore has gone out of his way to do everything he can to make Global Warming an issue for everyone, because everyone needs to be aware of what is happening. In the news articles today This is what I came accross: Al Gore Urges Congretional action on Global WarmingHere are some videos I think are interesting to watch: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7860276510803565967&q=global+warming+news+al+gore&hl=en^^Formor Vice President Al Gore http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5598146823291526903&q=global+warming+news+al+gore&hl=enABC News (short clip) With Al Gore http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2078944470709189270&q=global+warming+news+al+gore&hl=en^^Preview for Inconvinient truty http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VS1zLSJH0VQFox News What are your opinions on Global warming? Admittedly, I used to be a huge skeptic about global warming, but after seeing so many films and whatnot about the issue, I can't help but be extremely worried about it. I think that we should start making efforts to make more environment-safe products and fuel sources. Driving a hybrid is certainly a step in the right direction for a personal thing. 3nodding

well, looks like im the only one to disagree, ok, ill post what I've been posting in topics in the ED global warming is real, but what most who have stopped using their cars and all of those "I'm saving the world" people need to look at the other side of the story rather than what they hear on the news. There are WAY too many for the global warming to be blamed mainly on mankind. For example, we are still in an ice age. A couple million years ago the temperature had never been higher. Way higher than today. Meaning that the entire midwestern America and the east and west coast were under water. So isn't it natural that we be getting warmer? The Earth hasn't had one mega continent for 225 million years. Around 500 million years ago the atmosphereic c02 levels were gigantic. We are actually at a low point of c02 compared to the Paleozoic, and Mesozoic time eras. 65 million years ago global temperature averaged at around 22 degrees celcius. Now the average is at a little more than 12 degrees celcius. if you want a graph, here's one

i've had global warming on my mind for years. i posted an entry in my journal about it, but no one seems to be interseted in it. i'm mostly worried about this because it's melting the North Pole, and polar bears are close to being endangered. Not only that, but coral reefs are dying, storms will become harsher as the century progresses, and many other things. it's caused by gas emissions. these come from car exhausts, power plants, solar acitvity, volcanic emissions, and variations in the earths' orbit. although there are factors that are not human related, the majority is caused by humans. the ways that we can reduce the gas emissions is driving a hybrid car, using renewable resources such as solar panels and wind turbines, and other things. for any other information, go to stopglobalwarming.org . and if you want to voice your concerns about it, go to beattheheat.nrdc.org.

Now the average is at a little more than 12 degrees celcius. if you want a graph, here's one That is true -the earth has always has dramatic changes in temperatures but usually temperature changes that take hundreds of millions of years. Perhaps it should be normal for the earth to be getting warmer, but not at the rate our temp and co2 levels are rising now which have risen dramatically in the past 100 years-since the start of the industrial revolution...we have changed the rate in which these two variables have trended...in the known history of the earth. On another note, we can't keep treating the earth like a junk yard and not expect there to be any consequences. I am on my cell phone, but later I can post more links and pictures.

Personally, I know that Global Warming is no joke, but as I was discussing this with a few friends a while ago, the extent of the impact that it will have on us will be far less than what it will be generations from now. Basically, we'll be all dead before anything extreme will occur. However, I do think that people should take more notice on this issue and attempt to lower the emission of greenhouse gases. I know my point seems rather pointless and biased to an extent, so I'll try elaborating a bit later. (Everything's all jumbled up right now, and I don't quite recall everything I learned about it from way back when.)

I am interested in it, and have been for years. Did you know that Volcanic Emmisions and even other natural factors can mask the effects of Global Warming as it had in 1991 when a major Volcano Erupted. THings like emissions from the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the philipines cooled the earth slighlty for 3year, temporarily masking signs of global warming.
I can be opened minded to the other side of the story, but we should still not be treating our beautiful planet like a waste basket.
The things that sadden me the most is the animals, because they have little to no contribution to the effects of this crazy weather. I have sighned a petition to save the Polar Bears, they have not been declared endangered just yet, but they are threathened and their number are reducing quickly.Save the Polar Bears! -Take action!

but catz some scientists say that there was a global warming before the first ice age. so we might go into another ice age in the future. i've also heard that humans are not a cause for global warming. its all natural.

Yes dear... REad my posts a few more posts up, there have been dramatic changes in teperature in the geological past of the earth... but we are talking hundreds to millions of years, before any of these changes took place....not in a span of like 100 years.
