Along the slowly winding river, in the center of a large, luscious meadow, is a pile of rocks with a hollow in the middle. This hole was nearly empty - but had a few small items inside it. It had been taken over by the Aldrich Winters as their personal stash within the Seconds world.
At the moment, there were three of them:
Celebor, the child elf who always managed to get himself into mischief, but who took very good care of his sisters;
Serenity, the human surprise who was terrified of new people and loved beauty;
and Skye, the deaf angelic surprise who was completely fearless and loved nothing more than feeling the different vibrations and sensations that the world offered her.
Elnara Aldrich is allowed to use the other pets she owns in this roleplay. - Raspberry-Tea

Celebor had been left in charge of his sisters for the day, and he was taking his task quite seriously. The day before, the two girls had received their own cartouche necklaces, and now all three of them had the same matching necklaces hanging around their necks, each with their names engraved on them in raised lettering.
He led them over to the pile of rocks and climbed up on top of it. "Lookit me!" he crowed. "I'm bigger'n you!"

Skye giggled and rubbed the letters on her necklace with her index finger. It was smoothly bumpy against her finger, and she loved it. She could feel faint vibrations coming from the direction of her big brother, but they were far from defined and barely sensable. Her wings fluttered a bit as she sat on the ground, and she ran her fingers through the tall grass. It was even taller than she was, but she loved the crackly feeling against her palm. It had a unique vibration to it, one that matched the pace of the breeze, but was stronger.

Serenity giggled at Celebor and scrambled up the rocks after him. "You're always bigger than we are!" she pointed out, tugging on his leg. "You're so silly, Celebor!" She giggled again.

Celebor jumped off the rocks and landed in a roll in the grass. "Hey! I know!" he grinned. "Let's play a game! What game you wanna play? We gots lots of time afore Mommy comes back! Wanna be knights? We can go find treasures!"
He bounced from one foot to the other excitedly.

Skye squealed and moved out of Celebor's way - he had come very close to landing on her, and he was still very close to her as he was jumping around. Her tiny mouth pursed into a pout and she budged over to get to a safer place. Her wings fluttered angrily and she reached over and smacked his leg.

Serenity took Celebor's place at the top of the pile and sat on the highest rock and crossed her legs. "Look at me," she giggled. "I'm the queen of the castle!" She looked down at Celebor condescendingly. "Don't be silly, Celebor, we can't be knights that look for treasure. For one thing, knights save princesses, PIRATES go treasure hunting! For another thing, only BOYS can be knights! Or pirates! Think of something else that's for girls too!"

"Well you can be a princess then and I can rescue you!" Celebor grinned, glancing down at Skye before looking back up at Serenity. "But 'cept then I gots to find somewhere to rescue you from ..."
He looked around thoughtfully.
"What if you go hide in the grass and we p'rtend you're lost and I can come find you and save you?" he suggested. "A lost princess and I can help you!"

"But I'm not a princess, silly!" Serenity giggled. "Besides, sitting in the grass and waiting isn't fun. I want to be a monster or something, or the bad lady like in the stories, and Skye can be the princess that I can kidnap or something, and you can save her from me!"
She jumped to her feet eagerly. "That's a good idea, right?"

Skye felt her vibration and looked up questioningly. "Ah?" she asked in a questioning tone. She looked from Serenity to Celebor, and she wondered what they were talking about. She wished that she could understand vibrations the way they could, without having to be so close to each other.
Her wings fluttered as she waited for one of them to let her know what was going on.

Celebor grinned. "Okey dokey, that sounds like fun!" he agreed. He knelt in front of Skye and grinned at her. "Skye, you wanna be a princess?" he asked her, pointing at her, and making a circle with his hands and holding them above his head to show her what he meant. He continued, "Serenity's gonna be the bad lady and I'm gonna save you from her, okay?"

Skye's wings fluttered excitedly and she pointed up at Celebor's hands, which he still had held in a circle above his head. "Halo!" she giggled. "Halo! Angel halo! Bunny halo?"
She blinked, suddenly confused.

Serenity giggled. "No, Skye, not bunny halos!" she laughed. "Celebor, you have to be careful what you do, she doesn't understand." She climbed down from the pile of rocks carefully and took Skye's hand, then looked up at Celebor again. "Now you go find something to use as armour because knight have to have armour, and I'll take Skye and hide her and then when you're ready you can come find us okay?"
She set off into the the long grass to hide.
She really hoped that Celebor would be able to find them in the grass - it was so tall that neither she nor Skye would be able to find their way out of it if he didn't, and Mommy would be quite upset if they got lost while she was away.

Celebor nodded and ran off to find himself some armour. He had no idea what might work, what might be around ... or for that matter what a knight even looked like. Though from the mention of armour he had a sort of picture from a book in his mind.
He remembered an old tree somewhere nearby that had large slabs of bark on the ground around it, and he headed off to find it.

From above, all that could be seen was the grass parting in a curvy line, but from eye level all the two tiny seconds could see was grass, grass, and more grass. Serenity had no idea where she was leading Skye, but she was explaining the game to her as they went, doing the best she could to make her sister understand.
