It seems weird that we haven't had a topic on this yet.

Which war is this war? surprised

The Iraq war? I think it's silly but it is indeed mutual. We're fighting for money and selfish motivation, the people in the Middle East who are killing us are fighting for the same thing. (Disguised as Jihad.) It's so sad. .-. According to the Qu'ran, the "self-righteous" suicide (lolol) bombers aren't going to get their seventy virgins. According to Islamic "law", they can't kill woman, children, or elderly, they can't force religion on people. America has no justification other than greed to fight back. They actually declared Jihad on us first. I know there's much more to it than that, but I'm tired.

I've just learned to deal with the fact that there will always be war, always. End of story. You cannot argue with me there.

In the beginning I was for it, thinking we were ONLY getting back at the people who hurt us on 9-11. Then slowly, it started evolving into other reasons...like getting Saddam. Fine. Then we captured him and it was still going on! Now we are trying to establish a government over there? Why? I bet there are several more reasons why we are over there that they won't tell us. Now it's just stupid and I want us to get out. There are too many of our people dying for someone else's cause.

The citizens are happy we are there, but I'm sorry, what can we do for them if we keep on getting killed while we are trying to help?

It's all just a complicated mess we probably should have never gotten into.

I find it ridiculous that they're trying to establish democracy over there. Really, I don't believe they're ready for it. We should have just left after getting Saddam and letting them rebuild for themselves. But, no.

I love my friend's analogy for this.

Kate
Giving Iraqi's democracy is like... giving me Mike Dirnt. At first, I'll embrace him and be happy but after that, I'm going to wonder what the hell I'm going to do with it.

HAHA! That reminds me...

I was watching a showed called Scrubs, and there was a huge debate about the war, and the main character (played by the lovely Zach Braff <333) had barely a grasp on politics or what the issues were, so he bought, "The War On Terrorism For Dummies." He got about a third into the book, and he said, "I don't get it. President Bush said 'Mission Accomplished.' but there are still a whole bunch of pages left!"

I support the soldiers and their families, and I give money and such whenever I can to soldier funds, not to be confused with "war funds." I agree very much with what razzledazzle said. I was hoping that electing Bush 2004 would mean he'd carry out all his stuff and hopefully by now, the war would be done. NOPE. I know it's supposed to affect me and how I live, but I'm still the same Caitlin Eaton I always was.

I'm just glad the war isn't totally being fought on our soil.
but
I live in an important port area in the US. D:

Especially since we don't even have a democracy ourselves. I know I've said it before, but that really ticks me off.

I just have a hard time figuring out what we're actually trying to acheive here.
When it was just about getting revenge for 9/11, sure.. but what has forcing democrasy on the iraqi people got to do with chasing the bearded guy through some caves?
PostPosted: Sun Apr 15, 2007 5:29 pm

Oh yes Washu, I definantly support the troops too. My step father has gone over twice and many other relatives. It's not them deciding to be there. They wanted to help their country by going into the military, and the military uses them when it so ever feels. I hate it when people don't support the troops. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be the same that we are today.

Also, I can't stand when people necessarily say "war is not the answer", in this case no it is not really, but for the people who are against all war...I mean, we'd still be a colony of Great Britian if it wasn't for war. Not all wars are necessary, but I guess the idea of war is needed? I don't know how to exactly explain myself, I hope you get the gist of what I'm saying.

I think I do.
Like.. some wars are nessisary for keeping people safe and progressing, but it shouldn't be used as an option unless there really is no other way.

Seriously, if wars hadn't happen in Biblical times, if the World Wars never happened, if the first gaijin smash (lololol) hadn't happen in Japan (Commodore Perry, baby!), if the whole Cold War thing never happened...

Man, America would sure be different.
Maybe Japan should have stayed a hermit. Then we wouldn't have otakus running around screaming broken Japanese.

Ah yes. The otakus. And their "ONEE-SAN BAKKAKAKA-CHAINS" or whatever.

As for war, the revolutionary war and whatnot was cool, but then there was that stupid Spanish-American war and other unnecessary things. War isn't the answer, but it very well could be the solution.

i agree with what most of u are saying. some wars are necessary to keep peace [the ol' paradox, if u want peace u must prepare for war], safety, etc. but i think that this whole war in Iraq has become unnecessary. i think that the U.S. should keep their noses out of this. yea, i kno that the U.S. created this mess and it would be wrong to just leave them, but it seems like they're trying to force a government on them. i think that its way too dangerous to keep our troops over there for a goal that's seemingly out of reach.

Personally I believe that this war is ridiculus. Bush should have taken th money to start a war with the people who killed how many american civilians?!? But no he spent a year or two (MAYBE) looking for him, and decides he needs to finish daddys job.

( sweatdrop Sorry about that rant. One of my best friends may be joining the air force and it freaks me out. I think this war is stupid To many people have died for bombs that dont exsist.)

I hate this war. America thinks that it is Jesus or something and that we can go out and change the whole world. People need to change themselves. I can understand America aiding in exterminating Saddam Hussein, only becuase no one else would. But we cant keep trying to shove OUR idelas down Iraq's throat. Look, if they really wanted a democracy, the country would have revolted against the regime a long time ago. One man can be powerful, but not that powerful. They obviously arent willing to let us help and we should leave it at that.

I dunno if I want to agree with Americans who hate the war and hate Bush. If they voted for Bush again, and Americans hate Bush, then Americans who hate war must love war. o__o;; (that didn't make sense.)

I dunno. Flip-flopping people confuse me.
