Sulfur Elemental 2R
Flash, Split Second
All white creatures get +1/-1
3/2

Does this card deserve all of the hype that it is currently getting? Clearly it has some advantages: it can wreak havoc on a blue player, or it can slow down boros a little bit. With mono green being the most played aggro deck that I see, does sulfur elemental cut it the current Type 2 metagame?

eh, to me it's one of those so so cards. Probly getting mad more of a big deal than it is, though I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if you played R/W decks.

Sulfur Elemental is a Very Iffy card it is a 3/2 on 3 with a ability that could help or it might not i think he is ok but they are giving him too much credit

I beleive it has a place in at least the sideboard of any red deck. Mainly because it beats draw go control decks, it will kill many boros creatures, and it completely destroys martyr decks.

White weeny killer, if you're lucky. In type 2, it's not bad, I suppose, but it's pretty much useless in anything else because of Daru Warchief and Veteran Armorer.

I suppose you could also use it for your advantage and a few extra damage.

This thing is really good. my friend plays white weenie, and I have so much fun with this.

Sulfur Elemental is an uncounterable 3/2 for 3....in red....so we are looking at anything from a 1 drop to a 3 drop. As far as metagame, this is a really amazing card. If you look at PT Yokohama, this card basically kept white weenie out of the top 50. There were 2 white weenie decks in the top 50 though, as well as 2 sliver decks....but sulfur elemental is definitely worth playing in almost anything red.

It is one of the best cards out of PC. Its a 3/2 flying guy that cannot be countered. In this format where control is one of the top type of deck to play it buts control players on a pretty fast clock. Its something they have to deal with. Also, UR control or Red decks in general never really had anything to deal with pro red white creatures. I play nothing but control, and UR control at that(Yawgs can tell you), and nothing hurt more than seeing priest turn two when I was on the play. Now I have something to deal with Boros in general and basicly nukes priest and 3/4's of boros, for just 3 easy mana. If you think this card has been hyped, you really need to go back and take a second look at this card. Really, I think the only over-hyped card was expirate. That card is not that good, I believe and was the most over hyped card in that whole set.

might be good if you change trgt or all creatures color to white but it does have draw backs

It had a lot of hype when White Weenie was the dominant weenie deck.

The reason it got so much hype was that when it was Standard, there was BDW deck going around, hence why if you ran red (Except for BDW) you ran Sulfur Elemental in at least you sideboard. Also, it may give your opponents an advantage, if they run white, but a 3/2 with Flash and Split Second for 1 R and 2 generic, is great.

With Lorwyn coming in, he would be a potent card against alot of type 2 tribal decks such as Elves and Faeries, but I never really cared about the +1/ part. Its better used as a mass removal.
