For anyone who even reads these threads, we need your help! If you know anyone who is active on gaia, or if you could make some kind of thread advertising the guild, I Would love you forever! We don't have many active members anymore. Some people haven't posted in over a year. Let's try to bring life back into this guild! Whatever you can do to help will be loved. Please try to get people to post here!

I think one of the reasons that we have a lack of active members is that the members that ARE active are...how can I put this...

Clique-y? Elitist? I know that I'm like that too, but I at least try not to act like a heartless slob. I try to apologize when I do.

When someone makes the slightest blunder or makes a 'pointless' topic, they're jumped all over. This is not a very newbie friendly guild in my opinion.

Huh? I'm not sure I follow you on that one. It seems like everyone's just busy and we haven't had many new topics lately.

*Edit* the four most active members of this guild at the moment (Orange Blossom, Bogus_Burger, Mooby the Golden Sock, and Demiimp) are all good friends with many inside jokes. Therefore seemingly insulting comments made from one of them to another should not be taken seriously. Furthermore, three of us live in the same apartment. Therefore the guild seems very inactive because we no longer have a diverse group of posters. This would also explain why we all tend to be active simultaneously.

Ok, I'll get right on that. Idiot.

Oh, and by the way... ^^SARCASM.

And Jeoc's still pretty active. So it'd be like 3.6 out of 5 of us live together (Ms. Chan falls under the 3/5 Compromise.)

*Waves* I would active if it weren't for the fact that every time I check this place there aren't that many updates, and not really anything I can comment on. But I that can change!

(Seriously, I come in to uni about an hour and a half early every day. I have plenty of time to spare.)

You're right. Often I have nothing to say, and therefore nothing to post.

My goodness, we're online at the same time!

Okay, I've got an hour until homegroup meeting and nothing to do until then...

It's silly that our time zones are all different. If I want to be on Gaia at the same time as Shadow, I've got to be on at 1 am. *wonders if she'll be able to pull an all nighter one night to waste on gaia*

*Edit* If anybody knows anyone who would be an active member in the guild, feel free to invite them or have one of the mods invite them. ^_^ I have a feeling the guild would be better if there were more than 10 active members posting. I'm still trying to decide what to do with all of the inactive members we have. Maybe I'll PM them all seeing as to why they are inactive and if they would like to leave the guild. Yeah, I think that'll work.

I agree. That's why I left for a few weeks, actually. The clique-yness and whatnot.

The idea of new members sounds good but how can we be sure that they'll stick around? I had my friend get invited not too long ago to the guild and she said that she would have stayed but didn't really like the atmosphere here.

If more people joined, the atmosphere would be different. More people would post and there would be a more widespread variety in opinion on certain things. There would be more than 4 people posting, and different views would be presented. As Burger mentioned in another post, 4 of the 5 most active guild members right now all know each other and have many inside jokes. We don't mean to sound clique-y (if we do) but if other people who are already in the guild started new threads the guild would not be so much of a "clique" because a wider variety of personalities/opinions would be present in the guild.

To be honest, I don't see how this guild feels "clique-y". I do, however, see how the threads are mostly one-sided. We have new members who come in, make one or a few posts, and then leave. Would somebody please tell me exactly how this guild is clique-y? If I don't know how people are feeling, I can't try to fix the problem. I can't fix what's wrong if I don't know what the problem is.

I'm sorry, Blossom. I can think of a couple phrases that can describe your feelings on this place being 'clique-y'. "Ignorance is bliss" and while this next one's from Spongebob, much to my dismay, it's adequate to use here. "Dumb people are always blissfully unaware of how dumb they really are"

This isn't to insult anyone's intelligence, it's to make a point that if you're in the 'clique', you don't or pretend not to notice just how elitist and pretentious the clique is or that the clique even exists.

Well, you're in the clique of the people who know each other IRL and have all of these inside jokes so you wouldn't know that others feel alienated or not as special because they're not in it.

I was talking over it with my friend ([Ralph], who posted a couple of times) and she said that she just felt really alienated around here like she wasn't welcome and that it didn't have a very good atmosphere at all. Hence her lack of posting.

I know that I personally feel left out a lot when I post something and someone else posts something that has to do with an inside joke or something along those lines and then I'm like 'what?' and leave.

I figured that I was part of the clique. I try to include everyone, really, I do. I'm glad that you both (Asha and Polar) have brought this to my attention and explained it better. I'll talk to the guys today and let them know that we've (all four of us) got to lay off the inside jokes here. If you know of anyone who might be interested in coming back and giving the guild another try ([Ralph], Ammara, or anyone else you know), please let them know. I'm not trying to be anti-n00b. I really hope this works out and that we can get everyone on the same page again.

Sorry for all the confusion about this. Thanks again for your help in bringing it to my attention.

Burger joined when this guild was still an active, happy place. Also, I only invited Mooby and DemiImp to the guild because we needed active members, and I knew they would be active in the guild. I was not purposely being anti-n00b or anything like that. When new people post in the intro thread, I always reply by welcoming them to the guild.

Whatever happened to those days of page domination and all that stuff when everyone was posting?
